Fake lashes : Urban outfitters

Found at Glashoff Sculpture Ranch

Yup! Luka got some eyelashes the other day. I really like the result.

Taking some engagement photos for a friend. I wanted the practice, they needed them done, so win/win!

WIT: As soon as I get time to work on the shadows assignment the clouds move in and force me inside. A simple setup with two forks, a head shape, and a flashlight. In post processing I added a bit of texture.

The dollmore lashes that I rescued! When I took them off the plastic, they just kind of fell apart...but I managed to make some use of them.

I wonder how many old men last winter

Hungry and frightened by namelessness prowled

The Mississippi shore

Lashed blind by the wind, dreaming

Of suicide in the river.

The police remove their cadavers by daybreak

And turn them in somewhere.

Where?

How does the city keep lists of its fathers

Who have no names?

By Nicollet Island I gaze down at the dark water

So beautifully slow.

And I wish my brothers good luck

And a warm grave.

But I could not bear

To allow my poor brother my body to die

In Minneapolis.

The old man Walt Whitman our countryman

Is now in America our country

Dead.

But he was not buried in Minneapolis

At least.

And no more may I be

Please God.

I want to be lifted up

By some great white bird unknown to the police,

And soar for a thousand miles and be carefully hidden

Modest and golden as one last corn grain,

Stored with the secrets of the wheat and the mysterious lives

Of the unnamed poor.

...through the eyes of a child.

Karolina, our mascara model...

Her man, Daniel, told me how when she's lying down and going to sleep....her left eye very slowly closes shut, whilst her right eye remains open....for a time ; Then, her right eye...fighting the drowsiness...gives a sweet fragment of a flutter, and then slowly, droops downward, then rises slightly upward...and then proceeds to float downward...and finally closes shut.

Once, he related (whilst they were on holidays here in The UK), an auto backfired...and her eyes snapped wide open with a look of shock and terror.

Her eyes did eventually close and she drifted back into peaceful sleep that night.

Daniel, be advised, I am gonna forward you ££ - royalties - ££ for the usage of that dialogue AND the scenario for a telly/cinema advert I got plans to make..

This eye belongs to my youngest son. Both boys have the most gorgeous brown eyes and long black lashes. Some women would kill for lashes like that!!!!

Found vintage 5x7 photo of an unidentified young lady with a poofy 1940s hairstyle.

The photo is hand-tinted and if you look closely you'll see someone lightly penciled on some eyelashes for her.

I did some small, cosmetic clean-up retouches in photoshop.

Any comments or observations are much appreciated!

On April 30, 1995 I found this UP Special southbound crossing the Santa Fe at Stockton (Calif.) Tower.

This is 3 of 4 photos.

Lash Lure was an aniline (coal tar-based) eyelash and eye brow dye that promised consumers more lasting beauty effects than mascara or eyebrow pencil. However, in reality, the toxic dye was highly irritating and caused eyebrow and eyelash loss, as well as vision impairment and even blindness. Like many cosmetics of the time, it was not tested for safety and did not disclose ingredients, so consumers had no way of knowing the real danger it posed to their health.
