I like the lashes in this pic, particularly. (well, and particularly the bottom set.)
Practiced with tattoos and some realistic body blushing. Also did some of the best, thinnest lines I've ever done. Better pictures of that coming eventually. I'm still not THAT great at this, but I'm getting better. <3

you can't tell here, but we were blowing bubbles. we went outside 3 times yesterday to do just that.
the final set, with mascara on the lower lashes. i don't suggest using mascara on your upper lashes when you're wearing lash flares unless you intend on removing them the same day. i also suggest putting in some eye drops after you finish applying your set just in case any glue got all up in your eye.
if you take good care of them you should be able to wear the same set of diy lash extensions for 2-3 days. you could probably go a bit longer but i think it's best to give your lashes a good cleaning and start fresh after a couple days. here's how to maintain them:
- don't get them wet for the first few hours after you apply. after that, they should do fine in water -- at least as far as washing your face, showering, etc. goes. i've worn mine to the beach and the pool but i don't really put my head underwater so while they can definitely handle a dousing and a splashing, a dunking might be a bit much, but i don't know. results may also vary based on what glue you use but i've had the same experience with a handful of different brands. just keep oil-based makeup removers away from them and take care in general around the eyes, obviously. after you get them wet they may want a combing and a curling.
comb them regularly to keep them mingled up together and to loosen any potential stragglers so you can reapply if necessary.
you can sleep in them and they'll hold up well, especially if you're prone to sleeping on your back. i tend to sleep with one side of my face all mashed up in my pillow which will cause them to get a little wonky on that side. in the morning, just gently curl and comb them, then remove and reapply any flares that aren't behaving. they require maybe five minutes of maintenance after sleep but it's nothing compared to having to apply a full face of makeup.
when you're done with them, gently remove them with tweezers or your fingertips, taking care not to get your real lashes caught up in there. use a cotton pad and a liberal amount of baby oil to clean excess glue off your natural lashes. when you think you've gotten it all off, do it one more time -- that glue sticks around.
i don't know if this is a great idea for anyone with especially sensitive eyes, or for contact-lens wearers, but so far i've been stoked with my experience wearing flares all day every day!
