Styles and eras come together in this unexpected view along Newbury Street. One of the Back Bay's oldest buildings, the 1863 Beaux-Arts old Museum of Natural History (today a Restoration Hardware store) on Berkeley Street, the 1941 Art Deco New England Mutual Life Insurance Building on Boylston Street (today an office building), the 1991 Post-Modern 222 Berkeley Street, and the 1947 Art Deco Berkeley Building, more commonly known as the Old John Hancock Building, on Berkeley Street and its famed weather beacon come together for an interesting mix of periods and styles. The Largo do Boticário is a historic place in Rio de Janeiro, it's now illegally occupied by homeless families.
These two are part of one of the families that occupies the historic place.
I wanted to keep the photo in as a dark atmosphere as it really was. There is no electric energy in this place.

O Pelourinho de Linhares da Beira é um pelourinho quinhentista, com ornamentação manuelina, com uma esfera armilar e uma cruz. Este tem uma base octogonal de três andares e o capitel tem forma de cone invertido. Dado o seu símbolo jurídico e administrativo, neste local, muitas vezes, eram aplicados os castigos públicos, de modo a servirem de exemplo à população, mas era proibida a execução de qualquer sentença de morte. A sua história esta intimamente ligada à concessão do foral manuelina, em 1510.

I spent a week in south Florida this past February with the first few nights in the Florida Keys. Sitting at an open air restaurant by the water in Key Largo, the sky didn't look very promising for a great sunset. As I was leaving the restaurant the sky lit up and I captured this amazing light show. The sky colors in south Florida are a spectacular array of pastels to brights.
