Lance showed up and put on a show, winning the classic bike race in Nevada City which is about 25 miles away from where I live. It was a 90 min race around a 1.1 mile loop through the hilly streets of the old mining town. There were approximately 20,000 people on hand to take in the celebrity excitement that Lance brought. This was his last race before the Tour De France which is in July.

Tour de france starts tomorrow!!!
Running from Saturday July 3rd to Sunday July 25th 2010, the 97th Tour de France will be made up of 1 prologue and 20 stages and will cover a total distance of 3,642 kilometres.
I´m looking forward to the 17th stage ending at the top of the "Col de Tourmalet".One hundred years after Octave Lapize first conquered the Tourmalet in 1910, the pack will once more attack this legendary Tour de France monument, perched at an altitude of 2,115 metres.
I hope one of the Schleck-Brothers of "Team Saxobank" will made it. But its hard to beat Alberto Contador and the guys of "Team Radio Shack". And than there is Jens Voigt on his 11th(!!!) Tour. I hope he´ll win one or two stages by chasing from the pack..
you see i´m very excited!!
I wasn't going to post this but my husband thought that it was too good not to share.
Went to the Wax Museum in San Francisco yesterday with my aunt and we just happened to be entering as the Lance Armstrong figure was being dismantled and put into storage.
Lance used to be in the "Cavalcade of Heroes" display. Not anymore.

Took this one last year before Armstrongs downfall. I thought it apt to post it up on the the eve of the tour.
I personally always respected Armstrong, for his triumph over cancer, and for his contribution to cancer research. For the longest time refused to believe that he was guilty as has been proven. But the truth will always prevail. The damage he has done to the reputation to professional cycling will be felt for a long time to come.

Not quite happy with this yet, still need to tinker about with it

From the makers of Paris-RouBingo comes a colorful chart/game/infographic cataloging Lance Armstrong's responses to allegations of drug use from 1999 through the present.
This is a selective list of reactions, aimed at highlighting Armstrong's tendency to deflect accusations by attacking the motivations behind them, rather than disproving their specifics.

AMGEN Bike Race in California. It was exciting to see ALL the cyclists, they were great ... but to me, Lance stood out!!
A long time ago, Anya managed to catch up to Lance Armstrong. She said she had a question. He stopped, made the CEO of Bristol-Myers Squibb, the head of PR, and several other high muckety mucks wait while Anya asked, "Why did you wait for Jan Ulrich?" He looked at her, and explained what sportsmanship meant to him. The whole exchange took about 2 minutes, but a photographer snatched this shot for us, and it's the reason I have faith in the honesty of a man who will answer a little girl's question.
i went with gemma to spend a few hours in malibu with her godmommy (my best friend who lives in topanga canyon) and just relax at the tiny park at the country mart...
we bought gemma a new curious george book (the one where he goes to school since gemma will be starting preschool in august) and went to read it in the shade. i got my camera out to take photos of gemma and tyke when a lady told me if i hurried, i could get a shot of "matthew mcconnugy" (her pronunciation) and lance armstrong. she seemed awfully excited about seeing someone who's name she could not even get correct. i declined and said i'd rather just take photos of my kid. we come around the corner and there is about 40 paparazzi and fans in a crowd surrounding the 2 guys. they could hardly walk and even from across the parking lot it was pretty scary. the photographers were relentless and aggressive. lance looked pissed.
they finally made their way to their car, but it took them about 5 minutes to get from the store to the parking spot.
it just so happened that they were parked one car away from me. after they got in and drove away, we watched in horror as a helicopter followed their SUV.
poor guys.
we read a few more pages of curious george and then went to get in my car. when we get to my parking spot we see footprints all over the hood of my car where i can only assume the photographers had stood to photograph them as they were getting out of their car when they arrived.
seriously. what the f?
... to the TOUR OF FLANDERS 2018
(in favor of "Come Up Against Asthma", perhaps?).
Yep, Lance is invited by the Tour of Flanders committee.
