I created this mandala for spiritual and material wealth and abundance and it is dedicated to the beautiful Goddess Lakshmi. I created it out of different textures and images and put them together like a collage in Photoshop.
Lakshmi is the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, both material and spiritual.
In Her images and pictures, Lakshmi is depicted in a female form with four arms and four hands. She wears red clothes with a golden lining and is standing on a lotus.
•The four arms represent the four directions in space and thus symbolize omnipresence and omnipotence of the Goddess. The red color syinbolizes activity. The golden lining denotes prosperity.
•The four hands represent the four ends of human life: dharma (righteousness), kama (genuine desires), artha (wealth), and moksha (liberation from birth and death). The front hands represent the activity in the physical world and the back hands indicate the spiritual activities that lead to spiritual perfection

I drive by this Hindu temple everyday. Finally took the opportunity to photograph the building, when the light conditions were just right.

The Lakshmi Vilas Palace at Vadodara in Gujarat, India, was built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1890. He named it after his queen Chimnabai I whose maiden name was Laxmibai.
It is four times the size of Buckingham Palace, and cost £1,80,000 to build. It is the largest private dwelling built till date. It contains 150+ rooms, and once had over 300 servants to maintain it. The palace grounds is about 500 acres!
In the 1930s Maharaja Pratapsinh created a golf course for use by his European guests. The course has since been renovated and expanded and opened to the public.
It remains the residence of the royal family who continue to be held in high esteem by the residents of Baroda.
