The Botero Museum (in Spanish, Museo Botero) is an art museum located in La Candelaria, the historic and cultural center of Bogota, Colombia's capital. The museum emerged from a donation of works of art by Colombian artist Fernando Botero to the government of his country. This collection consists of 123 works by Botero himself and 85 other works of international art, covering the period from the mid-nineteenth century to contemporary art. Opened in 2000, the museum is maintained by the Bank of the Republic of Colombia. It occupies a building in colonial style, former headquarters of the Luis López de Mesa Hemeroteca, today belonging to the Luis Ángel Arango Library cultural complex.

La Candelaria is the oldest of the 20 localities that make up Bogotá. Colombia. Here you will find houses and buildings that date from the earliest colonial times of the 16th century up to the art deco era of the 1920s and 30s. Many have been repurposed into shops, restaurants, bars, and boutique hotels, and the area is the busiest in the city for nightlife and entertainment. The original city was well laid out with relatively broad straight streets such as this.

The capital and largest city in Colombia, Bogotá is typically cool and cloudy due to its high elevation in the Andes Mountains. The average elevation is 2,640 meters (8,660 ft) above sea level making it one of the highest capital cities in the world.

La Candelaria, the historic district of Bogotá, is known for its colorful colonial houses that reflect the Spanish influence. The buildings often feature vibrant facades in warm tones creating a striking contrast with their green or blue wooden balconies and window frames.

On the south side of Plaza de Bolívar, in addition to the Capitolio Nacional and accessible via carrera 8 or 7, this is the neoclassical presidential building in Colombia, where the leader of the nation lives and works.

The building is named after Antonio Nariño, a colonial character with ideals of independence who translated human rights laws from French into Spanish - and went to jail for that a few times. In 1948, the building was damaged during the Bogotazo riots and was not restored until 1979.

Guards around the presidential palace form barriers on lanes 7 and 8. It is possible to pass through them; just show the contents of the bag and stay away from the side of the sidewalk where the fence is.

This story, however, is often embellished. People often omit parts they don't like.

The left tends to overlook the fact that Bolivar, born in Caracas in 1783, was the son of a wealthy family, owner of sugar farms and copper mines. Right-wing libertarians downplay their authoritarian side: Bolivar felt that presidents should have a life-long mandate and that Senate seats should be passed from father to son.

In the colonial district La Candelaria of the capital city of Colombia, South America, some school girls were making fun of themselves in an endless talk.

Here is one of the newest buildings in La Candelaria from the early 20th century. This building fills the corner of one of the main intersections. The museum has a set of 123 works by Fernando Botero, the second largest collection of works by this artist, behind only the existing one in the Antioquia Museum. It is composed of oil paintings, pastels, blood, drawings and sculptures, executed mainly in the last twenty years. The production of Botero between the decades of 1940 and 1960 is not represented.

Among the highlights of the collection is the famous Botero version of Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, part of the first series of works on violence in Colombia (Pablo Escobar, Tirofijo, Carrobomba, La Masacre de Mejor Esquina, etc.). On the second floor, the museum preserves a collection of small and medium-sized sculptures, executed in bronze and marble.

Much of the La Candelaria locality is decorated with vivid murals celebrating Colombian themes such as culture, history, landscapes and biodiversity. This set of murals celebrates the Afro-heritage of the country.

In 1939, the year that marks the foundation of the museum, the Bank of the Republic started to protect the Colombian Historical and Archaeological Heritage and its artifacts and to exhibit its objects in the museum; the work known as Poporo Quimbaya was the first in the collection, being on display for 65 years.

Bogota's most famous museum and one of the most fascinating in all of South America contains more than 55,000 pieces of gold and other materials from all the important pre-Hispanic cultures in Colombia. Everything is arranged in thematic and logical rooms on three floors, with descriptions in Spanish and English.

Eng: Candlemas takes place on February 2nd, and is a religious feast that is celebrated 40 days after Christmas and commemorates the presentation of Jesus in the temple in Jerusalem, closing the Christmas cycle. For this reason, the purists of the tradition maintain that neither the nativity scene nor the Christmas decorations can be removed until this date. This is the reason why at the end of January we can still see windows and balconies with some elements of Christmas.

In the United States they celebrate Groundhog Day, which we can see in the Harold Ramis film, with a masterful interpretation by Bill Murray.

The Church of San Nicolás de Bari is a Catholic church located in the old town of Seville, in the province of the same name, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. This church is the headquarters of the Brotherhood of La Candelaria, which worships the Christ of Health and the Virgin of Candelaria. As residents of the parish of San Nicolás de Bari, the Marquises of Loreto largely financed the reconstruction work of the parish that was completed in 1758. They were also patrons of its main chapel, whose altarpiece still houses the family coat of arms and family pantheon.
