His wife Elizabeth (nee Campbell) Connell.
Born 23rd October 1840 Glasgow, Scotland.
Died 1st September 1894 (aged 53) Partick, Glasgow, Scotland.
Their son Major Alfred Hamilton Connell of the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots, Glasgow Fusiliers was born 28th February 1881 in Partick, Glasgow. He was killed in action on 29th September 1915 aged 34 years old. He married Anna France (Nancy) Hone of Merville, Booterstown, Co. Dublin on 3rd August 1910 at Dublin, Ireland. Buried in Sailly-Labourse Communal Cemetery. His death is recorded on his parent's gravestone.
"The Connell company had been founded in 1861 initially to build sailing ships and remained in the family's hands, always run by a Charles Connell, until it became part of the government-owned Upper Clyde Shipbuilders in 1968. That consortium collapsed in 1971, leading to the famous "work-in" headed by shop stewards including Jimmy Reid and Jimmy Airlie. The Connell company name remained as part of Scotstoun Marine Ltd until 1980 when that, too, folded."
