Safety should be a huge priority in every laboratory setting, especially in teaching environments where students should be learning good safety habits early on. The use of the appropriate goggles, disposable coveralls to protect in case of spills, and gloves needs to be vehemently insisted upon by teachers and professors.

This is my make-shift macro lab. Canon Digital Rebel with the 18 - 55mm kit lens taped (masking tape, NOT duct tape) to a reversed Rokkor-X 50mm f/1.4 lens. It's not perfect but it's fun. :D

Oh, and this was the photo I was trying to get. Never did get it right.

Goal:

Sermon series graphic

Direction:

This series is based around the concept introduced in Donald Miller's book "A Million Miles In A Thousand Years." Since that analogy is built around the movie concept, we wanted a graphic that captured the essence of that analogy. We went with a very straight-forward, 'you can't miss it' type graphic that explained the essence quickly and concisely. We used storyboards and scripts to emphasize the process of film making and it's life parallels.

Other important info:

A fun little Easter egg - the script in the top right is taken from a scene in the film Adaptation, in which a screenwriter struggles to adapt a book into a screenplay. The scene features world-renown speaker and author Robert McKee, who is also mentioned in Donald Miller's book - which subsequently is about his struggles adapting his own life into a screenplay.

Renovations include the new cable tray for speakers, camera-tracking, power, sensors, repainting, floor buffing, projector mounting and screen, signage, patch bay for audio-visual control, dimmable lighting, spotlighting, networking

The inside of our lab furnace after I finally got it to work and not break. Woo me. I think it looks sort of like a space-age chamber of some sort...now that I think about it, I've always been intrigued by glowing hot things...hmm.
