I visited Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park in Washington State on my way to Pacific Beach on a misty day in June. A lone kayaker caught my eye sailing away into the mist. It reminded me of how small we are in the bigger pattern of the Universe.

I went to the urban gardens on Friday evening to enjoy the evening sun and take some images, of course : ))
Most of the lilies were already past their prime as it had been rather hot and dry in the last few weeks, but there still were some rather pretty ones left in shady spots
you will have already guessed:
taken with the manual vintage Meyer-Optik Görlitz Oreston 50mm f/1.8 ... I swear, this lens has soldered itself onto my (old) camera, lol

Days ago I received two large bouquets of flowers from sweet family members. What a treat to study the details of each blossom. Recently I noticed one of the Lily flowers had finally opened. The sun was streaming in the window so the flower joined me in a celebration of its beauty.

My first November Sunset
I am always inspired by anything beautiful. Sometime it's a pair of eyes or flowing, gorgeous water, the fire of the autumn woods, other times it's the sky or a sunset. It may be the biggest cliche in the photography, but it is the beautiest .
"When you draw or paint a tree, you do not imitate the tree; you do not copy it exactly as it is, which would be mere photography. To be free to paint a tree or a flower or a sunset, you have to feel what it conveys to you: the significance, the meaning of it." Jiddu Krishnamurti

Dicho de KRISHNAMURTI.
Así como el agua
de una laguna se
sosiega y queda
muy tranquila
cuando se ha
detenido la brisa,
también la mente
se sosiega
cuando deja de
crear problemas.

Emptiness comes as a sunset comes of an evening
That emptiness of the mind cannot be produced: the mind cannot be made empty, cannot be put together to be empty. That emptiness comes as a sunset comes of an evening, full of beauty, enchantment, and richness; that comes as naturally as the blossoming of a flower when there is no fear, when there are no escapes, when there is no boredom, and when there is no seeking. And, that is the most important of all - there must be no seeking. Because, you cannot find; you cannot find the everlasting. That which is beyond time you cannot search out. It may come to you but you cannot go to it because your minds are too shallow, petty, empty, full of ambition, fears, ugliness, and distortion. Therefore, the mind must empty itself - not because it wants that. Because, when you want that, you have a motive and, the moment you have a motive, you have lost your energy.
Therefore, it is only the mind that is completely empty that is in a state of inaction. That inaction is action. And, it is only such a mind that is being passionate; it is only such a mind that can live with beauty and not get used to beauty - the beauty of a tree, the beauty of a face, the beauty of an eye, of a smile, of the ugly, dirty road, the squalor, the dirt, the poverty, it is only the passionate mind that can live with it and not get distorted. And it is only such a mind that is so completely empty that is in a state of meditation.

Photo : Colmar (Haut-Rhin), perle d’Alsace.

This winter hasn't been great for macro shots of ice, as water levels in the river were low to begin with, and the freeze-up happened practically overnight. Then a big dump of snow covered the ice. I will stay alert for changes, and there is always the spring thaw (refreezing each night) coming in 8-12 weeks. But for now, I have to look at past work to get my fix.
Here's one from 2017. I was initially enthusiastic, but doubt set in as I kept looking at, thinking, "Well, this is pretty busy..." The fun part for me is trying to decide which parts of the grasses are beneath the surface, which parts above. After a close examination, I now believe that almost all the grass is locked into that ice. Those suspended bubbles have to be beneath the surface. They are probably methane from decomposed organic matter.
I think most of us have some difficulty, at least occasionally, deciding which images are our best. Our criteria for success shift constantly as we add new material to our collections. You may have a great shot of a magpie in flight, and then nail one that's even better, so that the original slips a little down the hierarchy. And how we rank our photos is, of course, totally subjective. I don't always know which photos are going to be crowd pleasers - and producing crowd pleasers isn't always my main goal.
Where do we turn for guidance when things get confusing? I have a folder of great quotes that I sometimes draw from. Wisdom of the ages: Plato, Shakespeare, Krishnamurti, Annie Dillard, Barry Lopez... so many interesting takes on our common concerns. This morning, however, in the wake of a cup of strong black coffee, one voice rises from the pack. Behold the wisdom of... Rick Nelson:
"But it's all right now
I learned my lesson well
You see you can't please everyone
So you've got to please yourself"
I'm only partly joking.

Only after a few minutes I realized that this beautiful horse was leashed. It took away from me the magic of the wild freedom in the Georgian Caucasian hills.
Probably the beauty waited for the next riding tourist.

The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transformed. Jiddu Krishnamurti

"We never look deeply into the quality of a tree;
we never really touch it,
feel its solidity,
its rough bark,
and hear the sound that is part of the tree.
Not the sound of wind through the leaves,
not the breeze of a morning that flutters the leaves,
but its own sound,
the sound of the trunk
and the silent sound of the roots."
~ Jiddu Krishnamurti ~
“If you lose touch with nature you lose touch with humanity.
If there's no relationship with nature then you become a killer;
then you kill baby seals, whales, dolphins, and man
either for gain, for "sport," for food, or for knowledge.
Then nature is frightened of you, withdrawing its beauty.
You may take long walks in the woods or camp in lovely places
but you are a killer and so lose their friendship.
You probably are not related to anything to your wife or your husband.”
― Jiddu Krishnamurti
