About to add to the traffic conjestion in rush-hour Harborne is this uncared for Atkinson tractor. RET 106H is owned by Northern LP gas and dates from August 1969-July 1970 period. It is a Cummins powered Silver Knight series.
The vehicle is about to travel towards Birmingham along Harborne High Street. In the opposite direction is WMPTE Daimler Fleetline 428 KOV is on the Outer Circle route.

In June 2007 the Bishop of Truro apologised for the massacre in 1549 and which is commemorated here. He said that the Church had reason to be ashamed.
In 1549, use of the English Protestant Book of Common Prayer was made compulsory, much to the unease of faithful Catholics. In Cornwall the feeling against this injustice was all the stronger because there were still many monoglot Cornish speakers.
Peasants and businessmen came together to protest, but the Duke of Somerset ordered an army to put a stop to the rebellion. Thousands of Cornish men were either shot, burnt alive, had their throats cut or were killed in fighting.
No attempt was made to translate Book of Common Prayer into Cornish.

This small church of mirrored glass was made as an art project some years ago in connection with Kongsberg Jazzfestival.
The Mirror Church was unveiled on May 31, 2000 and is made by artist Kent Karlson.
The mirror church was a special project for both Kongsberg vidregående skole (KOVS) and Kongsberg city. In connection with a theme "silver to hi tec" trade show at the turn of the millennium, the school was commissioned to build a church building dressed in mirrors. The assignment was carried out in collaboration with two other lines at the school. Engineering and industrial production took care of the construction itself, while construction engineering covered the building body with slabs.
The church is located close by the Mining Museum, and has become a landmark by the river Lågen. The building was planned to stand for three months. But the work that was done was so solid that it would take 17 years before the time was ripe for thorough rehabilitation.

Back in late summer 1964 this was the view across Summer Road at it's junction with Fox Hollies Road. Heading towards Birmingham City centre 402 KOV a Daimler Fleetline/Park Royal, new in July 1964, is operating a 1 service from Acocks Green (library) to Birmingham via Moseley Village.
To the left of the picture is Westley Road, the shop with "Senior Service Satisfy" on the front has long gone, opposite is a Regent garage, no longer a filling station but a used car dealer "Westley Motors". Behind the elderly Austin coal lorry are two other buses, the nearest is about to cross into Acocks Green bus garage, the other, either an '11' or another '1' is heading towards Acocks Green village.
