On the same walk where I saw nests built by Baya Weavers taken over by White-rumped Munias, I found this actual Baya Weaver bird in its own nest. It may be a juvenile.

Meenachil River, swollen with rain and turned brown with silt washed down from the hills. Although the water appears to be still the river is actually flowing quite fast - I had to time the exposure to avoid the ubiquitous plastic bottles and cartons from floating through the picture (I was not completely successful).

The Meenachil River and Aymanam village were at the center of Arundhati Roy's 1997 Booker Prize-winning novel "The God of Small Things".
I have not seen these Malabar Starlings before, but they have the unmistakable intense gaze of starlings anywhere.
