... this beverage is called Frugo Blue. I bought it because it had kombucha in it. Over Christmas I'd seen a lot of cookery programmes where chefs had used this ingredient. This was the only product Tesco sells with kombucha in it and I'm still none the wiser! I can attest to the fact that it is 'blue' as I dropped some and it has stained my cream carpet. It tastes fruity and far too sweet so I probably won't drink any more

I absolutely love it when I pour my home made kombucha into a glass & bubbles appear. And when the sun is out getting them to play with the light. Loved these slightly symmetrical patterns that came through.

I inherited the paper and haven't been able to find any more in that amazing shade.

Macro Mondays. This week's theme: refreshments.

I chose a glass of Kombucha. And a slice of lemon. I just read yesterday that the consumption of Kombucha has increased by a staggering 170% over the last year, making it the most popular soft drink alternative in Australia. Happy Macro Monday/ HMM

A soft drink is a drink that usually contains water (often carbonated), a sweetener, and a natural and/or artificial flavouring. The sweetener may be a sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, fruit juice, a sugar substitute (in the case of diet drinks), or some combination of these. Soft drinks may also contain caffeine, colouring, preservatives, and/or other ingredients.

Soft drinks are called "soft" in contrast with "hard" alcoholic drinks. Small amounts of alcohol may be present in a soft drink, but the alcohol content must be less than 0.5% of the total volume of the drink in many countries and localities if the drink is to be considered non-alcoholic. Fruit punch, tea (even kombucha), and other such non-alcoholic drinks are technically soft drinks by this definition, but are not generally referred to as such.

Soft drinks may be served cold, over ice cubes, or at room temperature. They are available in many container formats, including cans, glass bottles, and plastic bottles. Containers come in a variety of sizes, ranging from small bottles to large multi-liter containers. Soft drinks are widely available at fast food restaurants, movie theatres, convenience stores, casual-dining restaurants, dedicated soda stores, vending machines, and bars from soda fountain machines. Soft drinks are usually served in paper or plastic disposable cups in the first three venues. In casual dining restaurants and bars, soft drinks are often served in glasses made from glass or plastic. Soft drinks may be drunk with straws or sipped directly from the cups

I've been brewing this brilliant beverage for a while now, almost 2 years I think ... anyway, decided it was about time I tried a fruited version.

Well I am now entirely hooked on fruited kombucha. This stuff is truly amazing. Boysenberry the fave with ginger pretty fine as well. I also made nectarine, plum and raspberry versions.

The addition of fruit (+ a little sugar) seems to be more forgiving for the final flavour & great for extra bubbles! Or perhaps it's just the extra sugar!! (Theoretically it should get eaten hence more bubbles).

Thought they looked nice with the late arvo sun shining through them.

In case it's new to you kombucha is fermented drink made using black tea, sugar and a scoby which is a symbiotic colony of bacteria & yeast. Simple to make and the results are amazing, yummy and good for gut health.

While I prefer homemade Kombucha this actually isn't that bad to drink. About a third of the caffeine as a cup of coffee, zero calories and no sugar; this happened to be mango, passion fruit flavored. All that's nice but I liked the "WOW" on the pull tab! While it may be garbage it does look pretty cool, like John Chamberlain's sculptures that I've seen in the DIA:Beacon, New York art gallery made from crushed cars. I did have to hammer it down a bit to make sure it fit within the 3 inch rule and it just makes it.

A simple setup of the can, a black background, sunlight and white screens on the sides.

Thanks for visiting, enjoy each day.

It's my first time making Kombucha and I am very excited about it. I will let you know in 2 weeks time how it turns out. I have been fermenting water kefir for almost a year now and really into it. My daughter loves the carbonated drink and I am relieved that I don't have to rely on soda anymore. I was under the notion that Kombucha would be very sweet because of the addition of sugar, but then realised the fermenting turns sugar into acid and co2 and was ready to try to make this now.

P.S - My laptop has died so for next few weeks I won't be able to do an extensive processing and have to rely on transferring files wirelessly to ipad and edit selected pics. I don't even see it being repaired soon as lock-down is upon us in Bangalore.

Stay safe as India is battling 2nd wave now.

For the record, kombucha in clear bottles is not stored on a sunny window sill.

The floating pieces in the bottles are blueberries and apples.

Recently returned to the States following work in Vancouver, Ashley Greene was spotted heading into a studio for a photoshoot in Los Angeles on Friday morning (September 4).

Carrying a Victoria’s Secret bag in-hand, the Alice Cullen cutie sipped on her a Citrus ‘Kombucha’ organic raw drink, also interestingly wearing a ring on her wedding finger.

Meanwhile, Miss Greene is expected to be among the attendees on hand for next weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards, which air on Sunday, September 13th.

With co-stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner to take the stage for introduction purposes, MTV has announced that they “will air a never-before-scene exclusive trailer for The Twilight Saga’s New Moon.”

"The Power of Three". Today was the first time I tried Kombucha and I must say I really like it. The one I bought was the one on the right. Just 3 out of quite a few more on offer.

Kombucha is a fermented, slightly alcoholic, lightly effervescent, sweetened black or green tea drink commonly intended as a functional beverage for its supposed health benefits. Sometimes the beverage is called kombucha tea to distinguish the name from the kombucha culture of bacteria and yeast. Wikipedia

While having breakfast one morning at The Bird, I noticed this lovely red color bathing several containers behind the bar. I thought it made a lovely photo.

My first try making this tea, rich in probiotics and combats stress tis said, Doing some research with trepidation

I thought the fermenting kombucha on the window sill gave a nice abstract view of the sunrise. Trippy.

It is healthy... :))

Kombucha (also tea mushroom, tea fungus, or Manchurian mushroom when referring to the culture; botanical name Medusomyces gisevii[1]) is a fermented, slightly alcoholic, lightly effervescent, sweetened black or green tea drink commonly intended as a functional beverage for its supposed health benefits. Sometimes the beverage is called kombucha tea to distinguish it from the culture of bacteria and yeast.[2] Juice, spices, or other flavorings are often added to enhance the taste of the beverage. The exact origins of kombucha are not known.[3] It is thought to have originated in Manchuria where the drink is traditionally consumed, or in Russia and Eastern Europe.[4] Kombucha is now homebrewed globally, and also bottled and sold commercially by various companies.

Many people drink kombucha for its purported health benefits. Research has been conducted using biological assays in vitro.[40] Other studies have been in vivo using rats. There have not been any human trials conducted to assess its possible biological effects, and the purported health benefits resulting from its biological activities have not been demonstrated in humans.

In 2000, a scientific review was done, which summarized the range of claimed health benefits: "It has been claimed that Kombucha teas cure asthma, cataracts, diabetes, diarrhea, gout, herpes, insomnia and rheumatism. They are purported to shrink the prostate and expand the libido, reverse grey hair, remove wrinkles, relieve haemorrhoids, lower hypertension, prevent cancer, and promote general well-being. They are believed to stimulate the immune system, and have become popular among people who are HIV positive or have AIDS".

A 2003 systematic review characterized kombucha as an "extreme example" of an unconventional remedy because of the disparity between implausible, wide-ranging health claims and the potential risks of the product. It concluded that the proposed, unsubstantiated therapeutic claims did not outweigh known risks, and that kombucha should not be recommended for therapeutic use, being in a class of "remedies that only seem to benefit those who sell them."

The claimed health benefits of kombucha are based only on animal studies and any potential benefits would need to be investigated via clinical trials.
