Another scene from my walk from Alwalton to Water Newton. There were quite a few striking trees on the walk, this cypress(?) being one of them. The area was colonised by the Romans and this tree reminded me of the link between the area and Italy.

Bennett Place, Durham, North Carolina, was the site of the last surrender of a major Confederate army in the American Civil War, when Gen. Joseph E. Johnston surrendered to Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman in April 1865.

It was a typical Berlin winter and early spring: grey, not as rainy as usual. I waited for the trees to show their leaves. Winters can be too long in this city.

Since I took this pictures, all leaves are out, the roses are blossoming and the first real warm days arrived - and the city changed as every year to a different, a better one.

A lot of the landscape around here is rural and fields with a mix of some forest, very similar to this.

This lens produces decent sun-stars, if you zoom in on the car there are a few (albeit the two from the bonnet overlap).

I had to drive to Whittlesey rather than get the bus, but this seems a pleasant enough little bus station in the summer at least.

I find myself going back often to this abandoned farmstead. There is a lot here, and I think as spring brings leaves to the trees here, some of these vistas will work nicely with infrared. Anyhow, cool old completely intact truck, just left here when this place was abandoned. Developed in DF96 for 12 minutes.

The Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. I had once read about this car but had no idea about it until I looked up the registration, well after taking these photos. It did look shiny, silver and smart. I had not even realised there was a car show on, this location is a regular weekend trip out my myself and my boy. The things we stumble on around these parts...

Many lakes in N Central ND have substantially risen over the past several years - likely due to a connection in these glacial features in the unsorted till beneath the prairie soils. Some of the roadways have needed to be adjusted accordingly.

Another scene from my walk from Alwalton to Water Newton. This cloud really caught my eye and I walked until I could get some sort of foreground.

The sky is perhaps darker than you might normally expect, the glass in this lens is rather yellowed due to radiation damage (thorium glass). The lens is radioactive as hell, but it's fine with a clear glass filter over the front of it. On the back the shutter is enough to stop all the radiation from reaching the film. I've worked with nuclear materials over many years so this set-up has been tested with a Geiger counter.
