More testing of FPP High Speed RetroChrome 35mm hand-rolled film. This image shot at 320 iso in my Canon EOS Rebel Ti with its stock 35 - 70mm Canon f3.5 lens. RetroChrome is a color slide film but will produce pleasing results when Cross-Processed in C-41 chemistry (that will yield a negaitive).
Here my EOS camera exposed for the subjects thus overexposing a bit. Pictured: Sophie and her sister Hannah.
Olympus XA3 + Olympus XA3 + Kodak Ektachrome 64T + Cross Processing + Double Exposure.
Double Exposure Collaboration with the very lovely ξαβλ.
To be more specific, a film AND camera swap this time:
ξαβλ shot the first roll through his Olympus XA3 whilst in St Ives, Cornwall. When the roll was finished, he rewound the film back to the beginning and handed the camera (including the film) to me. I shot the roll through again in London. We did not collaborate regarding what specifically we might be shooting.
of many.
Is an individual special? Are all individuals? Only viewed in isolation, or even as one of many very similar beings? When you don't see their personalities, their scars, are they easier to ignore?
Committed to expired Kodak Ektachrome 100 using a Hasselblad 503CX and 100 mm f3.5 lens. Developed using an E6 kit from Ars-Imago and scanned using an Epson V850 using Silverfast.
So, I'm doing my annual house- and cat-sitting stint for my parents in Reading at the moment, and I've brought my Epson V550 Photo scanner home with me in order to go through some of the Beard family photographic archives which are calling out to be preserved digitally.
Last night I scanned a big batch of colour slides from the early 70s. I have to admit to being blown away with the quality of most of them; very sharp and they stood up very well to the 4800 DPI scan resolution I've opted for.
Most of them are of my parents and various family members, so I won't be posting them on Flickr, but here's a nice dusk seascape from my parents' holiday to Ibiza in 1972. This isn't quite as sharp as some of the shots taken in bright light, but I love the colour rendition. My dad reckons these were shot on Kodak Ektachrome slide film with his Braun Paxette camera.
I haven't done much Photoshopping to any of them, but removing all the dust and scratches by hand turns out to be quite a laborious process; I'd rather not use plugins to remove them as this tends to compromise the sharpness. But it is taking between 5-10 mins per image to clean up!

Shot using a Leica M3 and 50mm f/2 Summicron lens on expired tungsten-balanced Kodak Ektachrome 64 slide film.
This is 35mm film on a Nikon N80 and a kit lens. The lights were tungsten balanced. This is Kodak Ektachrome 100D cross processed and pushed a stop.

"It is a widely accepted notion among painters that it does not matter what one paints as long as it is well painted. This is the essence of academicism."
