We all know that a rainy day can yield beautiful saturated colors. We also know that a blah sky usually accompanies a rainy or overcast day. All three of the previous images were shot on the same rainy day. I was happy to be out shooting fall color even with the gray sky. But I was beyond happy the very next day, when the Leelanau was blessed by sunshine, blue sky and huge white clouds.

I know its the rear view and I would have loved the Kingfisher facing me but I still love the wings and you have to take what you can get! I also tried a different focus tracking setting for me and I'll be trying it again!

* I know for many people the big day falls on Saturday but for me personally the day of the winter solstice is much more important. It's the day the sun begins its slow return to the Northern hemisphere. In Britain it will occur at 15.58 GMT on Tuesday

Tomorrow many people will visit Stonehenge to celebrate the day. The stones have been in place for 5,000 years so they have seen a great many solstices . While much is not known about the reasons these stones were erected by the Neolithic people . Recent research does suggest that the way the stones are lined up suggests it was the winter solstice not the summer one that was the main ritual event . For these agrarian people to return of the sun and the promise of another years harvest would have been a very significant

Did you know that no two people can see the same rainbow. Sounds like some mythological curse but actually it involves simple physics. The light refracted by the same rain drop is at a different angle according to your vision and is at a different angle according to the next person’s vision as both of you can never be at the exact same spot at the same time. Taken in the Moloaa Forest during a thunderstorm on the island of Kauai.

Hi everyone! Happy new week! I know I have been a bit quiet over the last several days, a bit of a blue mood that I am sure will lift in the days ahead. Thank you to my dear Flickr friends who constantly lift me up with love, true friendship and the sharing of the beauty in your lives. I know I am blessed.

I was feeling introspective (and of course, ever the introvert) so I perched here in my garden, feeling mopey and lackluster, when this guy bounded over for the sole purpose of making me smile and letting me know that he was always there when I needed a hug or a lick! Dogs are pure joy, pure love. I know I tend to be with them in a lot of the images I create, but they make me happy, and truth be told, I know that they make a lot of us happy. Furry gifts from above they are!

As you know, with mirrorless cameras, getting flight shots is tough with a busy background. In the Z9 firmware update 4.0, they added a feature called Auto Capture. I tried it out yesterday. All you do is set up a tripod, enter some parameters for the shot you want, activate the program and walk away. The camera looks for any combination of settings and takes shots on its own. This one was set up for motion in a defined area of the frame. Lets say, it worked great.

I know that You all are in spring mode already, but I can't be considerate of that right now. I have still some beautiful memories of the last winter waiting to be shared. This one here is one of them. It was definitely one of the most beautiful sunrises I was allowed to witness in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains during the last years. The rock on the right side is called large goose. In the background you see the river Elbe passing by and behind it mt. Lilienstein. Moments like this are the main reason, why I am doing this and why I am loving this so much.

Ich weiss ja, dass Ihr alle schon im Frühlingsmodus seid, doch ich kann da gerade keine Rücksicht darauf nehmen. Ich habe noch immer einige wunderschöne Erinnerungen an den letzten Winter, die darauf warten geteilt zu werden. Dies hier ist eine davon. Es war definitiv einer der schönsten Sonnenaufgänge, den ich in den letzten Jahren im Elbsandsteingebirge erleben durfte. Der Fels auf der rechten Seite ist die große Gans. Im Hintergrund sieht man die Elbe vorbeifliesen und dahinter den Lilienstein. Momente wieder dieser sind der Hauptgrund, warum ich das mache und warum ich das so sehr liebe.

I know there is a shortage of insects, which is very worrying, but this only hit home to me after I returned from a 830 mile journey, and there was hardly an insect on the windscreen or bumper...Years ago had to stop after twenty miles to clean them off...I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to why this is happening.

You all know lupines in my garden already from the photos with the raindrops on their leafs. Off course I don't want to keep the beautiful flowers back from You. I did walk around them quite often already, trying to find a way to give them the right attention. Mostly I didn't had an idea and if I had one, I didn't like the result. Until the setting sun was helping me out a lot.

Ihr alle kennt die Lupinen in meinem Garten bereits von den Bildern mit den Regentropfen auf ihren Blättern. Natürlich möchte ich Euch auch die wunderschönen Blüten nicht vorenhalten. Schon oft bin ich um sie herum gelaufen und habe mir überlegt, wie ich sie wohl am besten in Szene setzen könnte. Meißt ist mir nicht viel eingefallen und was mir eingefallen ist hat mich nicht gefallen. Bis die untergehende Sonne, mir mächtig unter die Arme gegriffen hat.
