visited Shogran last weekend... the place is beautiful... this picture is taken during the trekking towards Manna meadows...Its a beautiful trek and we encountered couple of small glaciers and water falls on the way....visiting such places always give a bit of relief....
Sometimes you just know something is right. Even before really giving it a thought. It feels natural, something is like it REALLY should be. I feel comfortable when that happens to me, doesn't happen often but when it does I try to celebrate it or welcome it.

The leaves go quick on these windswept clifftops, already the chill of winter blowing through. Kicked off in updrafts that send sea breezes howling past, freezing in its path, my fingers feel it first. The last lighthouse at Horton Bluff shone from 1961 to 2013, before being shuttered after the gypsum plant shut down. No big ships to light the way for any longer; memories and remnants, left to a lovely shell. I come here when I could use a reminder of direction. Finding my way is just as easy as losing it a little. Do you know what I'm saying? Pick a road and ride until it all runs out, what's the worst that could happen, really? Too often, we're unwilling to do the chore of wasting time. Every day becomes a series of errands – do this or that until light runs out. I've discovered that all my best times are had when not knowing what's next. This building never knew, and when I'm done, I hope I don't as well.

Knowing that my window of opportunity for fall foliage photography was closing, I went out late Sunday afternoon for some photos. The colors at a distance are fading fast, but there is still plenty to be found on individual trees, some of which are still mostly green.
This is one of my most favorite spots to photograph and visit. I just love looking at those hills that are essentially tiny mountains! :)

Gran Canaria, Canary Islands (Saturday, May 14, 2011) – The Asp 3-Star Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior ran through to complete the quarter-finals with stand-out surfer William Aliotti (St Martin, FRA) 17, stealing the show to lead favourites into the final day of competition in rippable 3-4ft peaks at the main event site at La Cicer.
Surfers competing at the Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior, event nº3 of 7 on the Asp European Pro Junior Series, are out to claim the valuable ranking points on offer at this 3-Star rated event and place themselves in the race for the overall European Pro Junior title and the chance to compete in the Asp World Junior Series starting in Bali, Indonesia on October 3, 2011.
Aliotti dominated a one sided quarter-final bout over up-and-coming Italian talent Angelo Bonomelli to stamp himself as the inform surfer heading into the business end of competition. Getting off to a solid start, Aliotti sealed his pass into the Semi-finals with a combination of critical power turns to claim an 8.17 out of 10 and a lead which was never in jeopardy.
“It is definitely another good result for me. I have had a two 3rd placings in the first two Pro Juniors so I have done it again here but this time I want to try and make the final of this 3-Star event and maybe take the win.”
Earlier in his Round Four clash, Aliotti put in an amazing performance to lay down the challenge to his competitors that he is the form surfer at the moment. On a peeling left, Aliotti proceeded to produce a series of rail carves followed by a massive close-out air-reverse to post a near perfect 9.17 out of 10, the highest single wave score and the highest heat total of 16.84 of the event.
“It was a good wave for sure. It opened up and I did some carves first which were good and then I finished with the air-reverse that is a new school manoeuvre and I got the great score.”
Frederico Morais (Cascais, PRT) 19, who posted his best result of 2011, has quietly made his way through the event securing his wins and remaining fully focussed on his main goals of achieving a big result in the Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior.
“I am stoked because this is my best result in the Pro Junior series since last year and it is a semis in a 3-star so it is important to get some points for the final rankings so I am really happy.”
Morais took out Pierre-Valentin Laborde (Hossegor, FRA) 19, thanks to good positioning and wave selection during the slow 25-minute encounter. Sneaking under priority, Morais punched a combination of forehand snaps to post a 7.17 out of 10 and place his opponent in a combination situation.
“I got that left at the start and I was lucky because there were not many waves and then I got the right when P.V (Laborde) had priority so I was lucky he didn’t go. It all went my way and I am happy.”
Morais has had recent overseas Pro Junior experience in North America and has returned with added skills and knowledge which is hold him in good stead when coming up against his fellow Europeans.
“The Trestles Pro Junior helped me because there is such a high level of surfing there. I think though that a final or semis here is not that far behind them. We can make some good results too. We have the surf and the creativity to compete at all levels. It was a great experience their and it has helped me a lot in the contest I am doing now.”
Vasco Ribeiro (Praia da Poca, PRT) 16, beat fellow countryman Jose Ferreira (PRT) 19, in a challenging encounter which saw both surfers getting off to good starts and then relying on their backup scores to make the difference. Ribeiro locked in a 7.00 out of 10 to seal the win and to be one step closer to taking out the event.
“It was a slow heat and in the beginning I went out there to try and get two quick waves to get some scores. I want to improve my position on the junior rankings and hopefully jump up to nº3 or nº2. It is still early in the season with still four Pro Juniors to go so we will have to wait and see what happens.”
Medi Veminardi (Saint Leu, REU) 19, kept to his recent game plan of looking for the walling peaks which would allow him to cut loose on his powerful backhand. Facing Ramzi Boukhiam (MAR) 17 in Quarter-final nº1, Veminardi waited patiently knowing that wave selection and sticking to his plan of attack would be vital if he hoped to advance.
“At high tide there are not too many lefts and with not much power as well at high tide so I knew that if I went right and with just one or two good turns I could get some scores. I was patient because there are not a lot of waves so I kept checking and that was the reason for making sure to get the good waves.”
The final day of competition at the Asp 3-Star Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior is set to commence with a first call at 11h00 local time where up first in semi-final number one will be Medi Veminardi (REU) facing Vasco Ribeiro (PRT).

Knowing how much I like to snap the shutter, my son asked me not to take any pictures at the wedding - they had hired a photographer for that purpose. However, once the official ceremony was completed, out came my camera :-).

I've noticed before how the skins of onions are interesting to photograph, because of their colour and texture. (OK, maybe it's just me!).
If Mungaman sees this (or even if he doesn't), they're Dave's onions!
Strobist info: Nikon SB910 flash in shoot-though umbrella at left and at same height as subject. Nikon SB600 flash with Rogue honeycomb spot modifier above left and slightly behind, just to give a "hair light" to the topmost onion(s). Using TTL flash for both, with 1.5 stops negative flash compensation for umbrella light. (The spot is so constrained it was just a case of trial and error to decide compensation for that). Both flashes triggered by Pocket Wizard Flex TT5s with a Flex mini TT1 and AC3 zone controller on camera.

Painting brings me closer to my intuition. I'm always moving towards that spark, creating what makes me feel explosive inside with coherence and awesomeness. Recently the paintings I've created have felt somewhat "meh" and I could feel my own fear. I could see that I was afraid of continually creating "meh" pieces, feeling that this was a waste of materials. At the same time, learning from my many wonderful mentors, I knew that I had to continue painting, even through this "meh" period. I had once told someone to do just that, and to trust that they would eventually reach a breakthrough. Seeing Esther's art journaling reminded me that art isn't meant to be precise and controlled, and gave me just the jump start to finish a few pieces I had already started. And when I finished them, I felt that explosive knowing. Boom! Back in touch with myself, my inner well of power and strength. Fully expressed in explosive color.
I totally took a chance with this one. I had the background painted of a mix of pastel pinks and orange and yellows, and grays as well. I was suddenly inspired by my this flower and felt the urge to paint it on top of the background. This wasn't my original intention, I was going to accentuate the cosmic colors and that was that. But I went for it. I painted the flower on top and accentuated the colors around it. And it worked I would say! I love it. Sometimes experiments work out and sometimes they don't… I think coherence in creativity comes from being in flow, not being blocked by fears of creating something ugly. Following the nudges of your intuition...
