Fort bij Vechten is gebouwd tussen 1867 en 1870 om Utrecht te beschermen. De aanleg van de forten rondom Utrecht vond plaats tussen 1815 en 1826. De draagwijdte van het geschut nam halverwege de 19e eeuw snel toe en het bleek dat de forten (de Klop, de Gagel, Blauwkapel, Biltstraat, de Lunetten) te dicht bij Utrecht lagen. Vanaf 1867 werd daarom een tweede linie van forten bij Utrecht aangelegd. Fort bij Vechten is onderdeel van deze linie. Mobilisatie van het fort was er in 1870, 1914-1918 en 1939-1940, maar bij oorlogshandelingen is dit fort echter nooit betrokken geweest.

Mikhail Klopsky - Orthodox monk, venerable, holy fool for Christ's sake, wonderworker of Novgorod. A relative of Prince Dmitry Donskoy (according to one version, the grandson of his boyar Bobrok; according to another, the illegitimate son of his brother Andrei; according to the third, the son of the Grand Duke of Moscow Simeon the Proud). Having renounced wealth and power, Mikhail took upon himself the feat of foolishness for Christ's sake, left Moscow and, in rags, came to the Klopsky Monastery in the Novgorod Republic.
During the 44 years spent in the Klop Monastery, the saint was an example of ascetic monastic feat and strict observance of the rules; according to his life, he possessed the gift of prophecy and foresight.

Михайло Клопський — православний монах, преподобний, заради Христа юродивий, чудотворець Новгородський. Родич князя Дмитра Донського (за однією з версій, онук його боярина Боброка; за іншою – незаконний син його брата Андрія, за третьою – син Великого князя Московського Симеона Гордого). Відмовившись від багатства і влади, Михайло прийняв він подвига юродства Христа заради, залишив Москву й у рубищі прийшов у Клопський монастир у Новгородській республіці.
Протягом 44 років, проведених у Клопському монастирі, святий був прикладом аскетичного чернечого подвигу та суворого дотримання статуту, згідно з житієм, мав дар пророцтва та передбачення.
*Павло Олександрович Свєдомський народився 1849 року в Петербурзі. Живописній майстерності навчався в дюссельдорфській Академії Мистецтв, та в Мюнхені. Він близько 5 років працював над розписами Володимирського собору в Києві.
Допомагав йому його брат Олександр Олександрович Свєдомський, який народився 1848 року в Петербурзі. Він також навчався в Дюссельдорфській Академіі Мистецтв та в Мюнхені, після чого з 1875 року працював у Римі. Періодично він брав участь у розписах Володимирського собору. Павло А. та 0лександр 0- Свєдомські виконали такі роботи, як "Перший день творення", "Другий день творення", "Вхід Господень в Ієрусалим", "Вознесіння Господнє", "св. Микита" (?) - загалом, 14 (?) робіт.
