From Burbank, California.

52 weeks for dogs ... week 39 ... OMG - OMD ...

I taught Drift to tap the kitchencabinet with his nose when he wants a treat ... the procedure is : tap the door, I'll open it ... tap the box, I get the lid of ... tap again and he will get a treat ...

Ofcourse once learned I'll never ever get rid of it anymore and I should have thought of that before *sigh* ...

He connected this in his brain with the coffeemachine somehow ... now he taps the door évery time I'm making coffee ... I learned I drink a lot of coffee ...

SCOUT: *Sniffs air appreciatively.* “Something smells delicious!”

PADDY: “Daddy must be cooking this morning.”

SCOUT: “Grumbly tummy Paddy! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs tummy vigorously.*

COUSIN PADDINGTON: “Let’s see what he’s making, Paddy and Scout.”

SCOUT: “Oh no Cousin Paddington! Daddy says we aren’t supposed to go near the oven when it is on, in case we singe our plush fur! Daddy is very strict about that!”

COUSIN PADDINGTON: “Oh no, Scout! I didn’t mean let’s peer into the oven at the risk of our plush fur!”

SCOUT: “You didn’t, Cousin Paddington?”

COUSIN PADDINGTON: “No Scout! We’ll consult Daddy’s cookbook.”

SCOUT: “A cookbook? Goodness, what’s that?”

PADDY: “It’s what Daddy uses to find yummy recipes to make if it isn’t one he pulls out of his memory.”

SCOUT: “A book of yummy food, Paddy? That sounds like something I’d like to read!”

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.

He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.

Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.

Cousin Paddington is a recent visitor to our family. Travelling all the way from London, he was caught in transit thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, so it looks like he is stopping with us for a while. The more I look into his happy, smiling face, the more attached I am becoming to him.

PADDY: “See here Scout, this is a cookbook. Daddy has lots of these and they are full of yummy sweet and savory recipes to make if he doesn’t feel like pulling one out of his memory or making one up.”

SCOUT: “A book of yummy food Paddy! I’ll happily read this book!” *Rubs yummy vigorously.* “Grumbly tummy Paddy! Grumbly tummy!”

COUSIN PADDINGTON: “It looks like Daddy is making a baked raspberry cheesecake slice.”

SCOUT: “Grumbly tummy Cousin Paddington! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs yummy vigorously.*

*PADDY, SCOUT and COUSIN PADDINGTON read the recipe in the cookbook.*

SCOUT: *Gasps and puts paw to mouth.* “Crush the biscuits… beat the cream cheese… whip the cream…” *Looks aghast!* “This is the most violent book I have ever read!”

PADDY: “Oh, it’s alright Scout. What…”

DADDY: “Hullo Paddy, Scout and Cousin Paddington!” *Smiles happily at bears.* “I thought my baking might bring you to the kitchen. Do you have an attack of the grumbly tummies?”

SCOUT: *Turns and looks at Daddy crossly.* “Shame on you Daddy!” *Wags paw admonishingly at Daddy.*

DADDY: “Scout! What on earth do you mean?”

SCOUT: “Beating eggs and whipping cream is what I mean!” *Disgusted.* “To say nothing of crushing biscuits! I have a good mind to report you to the RSPCF!”

PADDY, COUSIN PADDINGTON and DADDY: “The RSPCF, Scout?”

SCOUT: “The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Food!”

PADDY, COUSIN PADDINGTON and DADDY: “Oh.”

DADDY: “But Scout, that’s what you do to make food. You sometimes beat eggs, whip cream and crush biscuits.”

SCOUT: “But that’s cruel, Daddy!”

PADDY: “As I was about to say, Scout. It’s alright. That’s what these foods are for. They don’t mind. In fact they like being made into yummy food.”

SCOUT: “They do Paddy? Even when they are whipped, or beaten, or crushed?”

PADDY: “They do Scout. Even when they are whipped, or beaten, or crushed.”

SCOUT: “Oh.”

COUSIN PDDINGTON: “And sometimes, when you beat eggs and cream cheese, crush biscuits into crumbs and whip cream, you get…”

DADDY: “Baked raspberry cheesecake slice.” *Pulls a plate of baked raspberry cheesecake slice from behind his back and puts it in front to Paddy, Scout and Cousin Paddington.*

PADDY, SCOUT and COUSIN PADDINGTON: “Oooohhh.”

SCOUT: “Grumbly tummy Daddy! Grumbly tummy!” *Rubs yummy vigorously.*

From domino, April 2008. Thanks to Katy Elliot for the picture.

We've just landed in the kitchen, one of the upper deck galley's of the British Airways A380, where the magic happens, keeping everyone fed & watered.

British Airways Airbus A380 G-XLEF operating the daily BA 462 from London Heathrow to Madrid @ 15.15 hrs.

British Airways have been begun operating their A380's again since grounding during the Covid-19 pandemic, using them on daily trips to Madrid & Frankfurt, a real treat for enthusiasts during November/ December 2021.

Special thanks to Sophie, Marie & Philip, BA cabin crew for taking great care of me that day, what an experience.

Great to see the BA A380 back again #WelcomeBack

And thanks for the light you are in my life! It's so great to see your gifts and talents displayed...what an inspiration! Your artistic flare lights up my life! Thank you again! : )

So sleek and chic: paneled cabinets are painted 'Surrey' by Ralph Lauren. Marble countertops and a stainless steel Viking range don't hurt, either.
