I met this chap back in January at Black rock sands and we have become FB friends. He is joining a couple of pals on Monday at a track circuit and has invited me to come and take some pictures of them, now that's what photography is all about, those random opportunities that come about from meeting nice people !! I can't guarantee the same backdrop as this one with Criccieth Castle but I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun, photos to follow !
For those thinking "What is it" , here's a brief summary -
CycleKarts are small, lightweight, nimble machines made by their drivers for the pursuit of motoring sport. They're not serious speed-machines or status-generating show cars. They're purely for the gritty fun and satisfaction of tearing around in a machine you've built yourself.
As a class of driving machine, the CycleKart formula limits certain aspects of the machines to maintain good sporting performance without jeopardising the light-hearted nature of these machines. CycleKarts and their builder/drivers don't like to take things too seriously, and certainly not themselves or each other, so overzealous competitiveness is frowned upon, and a win-at-any-cost attitude is not invited back.
Drivers have to make their own cars, as they decided some time ago that no one should be able to just fork over money and buy a CycleKart. Proper appreciation for the sport and the machines requires one construct one's own car.
People have been wondering if there are plans or kits for the CycleKarts: There are not. The builder must figure out much for themselves, but this is part of the evolutionary process, and part of the fun. Most importantly, each builder respects his or her car more this way, and fellow CycleKartistes know they share a bit of a rite-of-passage when they meet. Driving one's own car makes for more safe events, as non-builders tend to thrash the machines.
Beauford is a British family run automobile company based in Biddulph, Stoke on Trent. The cars are supplied in kit form and are therefore highly customisable.
Originally based in Upholland, Lancashire the company later moved to Stoke on Trent. The first cars were made in 1978 and used a Mini bodyshell as the passenger compartment later replaced by a glass fibre moulding. The company has supplied over 1,500 kits.
The Beauford Tourer is designed to look like a vintage car. At the front is a long bonnet with flowing wings at either side to give the appearance of a 1930s Style Grand Tourer luxury car. There are both 2 door and 4 door versions. Cars come in both open and closed bodies. With detachable hard top or convertible soft top there are also half soft-top versions. Because of the classic look of the vehicles the cars have become popular as wedding transport.

My Ferrari friends - I know this is a kit car (based on a MX-5 apparently) but what actually is it attempting to be ... I had thought 250GTO but no intakes at the front and that weird one on the back behind the window isn't right.
Any help identifying would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks.

Based on a 1977 donor car. The owner said it originally had the front end incorporating Metro headlights, but he changed to the twin headlight set-up..
These are kitcars based on the 2CV chasis and engine, there are several like Burton, Le patron, Lomax....
A Ford Sierra-based Lotus Eleven replica kit car from Alba Automotive, powered by a 2000 cc engine. I can't find any further information on this car or the company.
Well that is what I think this is , a Dax Kamala - a kit car based on Ford parts and a Ford Cosworth engine . As best I can find out The Dax Kamala dates from around 1996 and with the Cosworth engine would accelerate 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds and go on up to 160 mph .
Parts are predominantly ford so cost and availability are assured. The chassis can take the full range of Ford engines - ultimately a stage III race tuned 350bhp Cosworth engine mated with a lightly modified Ford MTX75 gearbox. All within a modern and rigid Triangulated space frame chassis which is both bonded and rivited to an aluminium floor pan. The car blasts from rest to 60mph in a paltry 3.9 seconds (Ferrari F50 Territory) and will still return a respectable 20-30 mpg if driven carefully!
Total build Cost: around £15,000 + your time to assemble.
Seen on the way down to the local supermarket this morning - not something I expected to see or have ever seen before and considering there was only 30 or so kits ever produced , I am not surprised !!

Volgens adepten staat Lomax voor Low Cost, Maximum Fun. Een kreet die door de eerste importeur is bedacht. De simpele zelfbouwpakketten van het merk zijn gebaseerd op een Citroën 2CV, Dyane of Ami.

The Emmet is probably one of the quirkiest designs in automobile history, and therefore I absolutely adore it! ;-)

You could say I was surprised when I saw this (for the 3rd time that day, but now finally up close). No idea what it was. But it turns out to be a kit car that is a classic on its own, being introduced in the 70's. About 200 were built.
This one is fitted with a 3.8 liter 6-cylinder engine, linked to a manual gearbox. Both are derived from the Jaguar S-Type; one of the donor cars of Kougar. Therefore the first registration date is declared in 1964, while the car was transformed into a Sports Mk2 in 1988. (some information from tachyon-motorsport.nl)
