"Let Pendragon do what he can

Eden will run where Eden ran"

A Pendragon legend states Uther attempted to divert the River Eden for the purpose of forming a moat around the castle but was unsuccessful.

Pendragon Castle resides in the Vale of Mallerstang near Outhgill in Cumbria along the banks of the River Eden. Its location on a raised hill consists of a single ruinous tower. While legends link this castle to Uther Pendragon, father of King Arthur, the structure was built in the 12th century, more than 500 years after the time of King Arthur.

A notable owner of the castle was Sir Hugh de Morville, Lord of Westmorland, who was one of four knights who murdered Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury in 1170.

An ugly "Ethel" train heating diesel locomotive sits behind Sir Lamiel.

The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. That is why I am your king.

The statue of King Arthur at Tintagel castle by artist Rubin Eynon. His recent work, Gallos, was installed in April 2016, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on the cliffs of Tintagel. The stately 8-foot-high bronze sculpture was not only inspired by the legend of King Arthur, but also Tintagel Castle's history.

Grey skies over Glastonbury Tor and the Somerset Levels.

The tower is the remains of the church of St Michael, damaged by an Earthquake 11th September 1275. The Tor itself is linked closely with Arthurian tales and the Isle of Avalon, rising from the Somerset levels that used to be flooded...until the Roman's drained them for farming.

CAMELOT & a variety of other moored Alouette River Yachts

Piit Meadows, BC

Canada

This image was captured by boat on the southern arm of the scenic Alouette River.

You can also capture this area by foot, but nothing compares to experiencing this life style by floating into the scene and becoming one with the peacefulness and beauty that 'surrounds' you.

For a little added romance to this beautiful yacht named Camelot, and her idyllic location.....I am including the enclosed reference...

Camelot is a castle and court associated with the legendary King Arthur. Absent in the early Arthurian material, Camelot first appeared in 12th-century French romances and, since the Lancelot-Grail cycle, eventually came to be described as the fantastic capital of Arthur's realm and a symbol of the Arthurian world.

Thank-you for all the overwhelming support and many friendships.

Legend has it that the castle was built by Uther Pendragon, the father of King Arthur.

The Lady of the Lake appears in many of the legends of King Arthur as the mysterious enchantress, Vivien or Nimue, who gave King Arthur his sword, kidnapped Sir Lancelot when he was a child and sealed Merlin in a cave or a tree and put him under a spell. She is said to live in a castle beneath the lake surrounding the island of Avalon.

Meaning "Power" in Cornish, Gallos is an 8ft bronze sculpture situated on the island part of Tintagel Castle. It was created by artist Rubin Eynon, inspired by the legend of King Arthur and by the historic kings and royal figures associated with Tintagel.

I know it is a bit of a guide book "cliche" shot of Tintagel, but who cares? It took me 10 minutes of patience to wait for a tourist free shot of the castle walls.

The Llanberis tree is Wales answer to the New Zealand Wanake Tree!!!! This lake, Llyn Padarn, is one of four lakes in Snowdonia that claim to be where King Arthur's sword was born (think Lady of the Lake) and where he went to recover/die after battle! The island of the orchard, Ynys Afallon, became translated as Avolon.

It was a wet day with poor light, so a conversion to b/w was always going to be on the cards. In fact the image on the back of the camera was mostly mono. This location is easily found as it is next to the villages main car park. Everyone composes slightly differently, with some putting the tree more left or right. It's all a matter of taste.

Interestingly enough experts are not quite sure where the palamedes swallowtail, Papilio palamedes, gets its name. There are at least two figures named Palamedes in mythologies, one Greek (the Trojan War), the other from King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. To our limited knowledge, neither did anything to inspire the name of a butterfly.

Be that as it may, the palamedes swallowtail butterfly is commonly found in Florida, particularly near wet woods and swamps. It ranges along the Gulf/Atlantic coastal plain from Central Mexico to Virginia. It's been known to stray as far north as New York, as far west as Nebraska and as far south as Cuba, apparently unaware of the embargo.

It's a fairly large butterfly, with a wingspan that can exceed five inches. It is mostly black, with prominent yellow bands and spots. It also has some blue spots on the tail.

Up north, the palmedes swallowtail produces several generations, or flights, between May and September; in Florida, it's breeding season extends between March and December.

Members of the laurel family, particularly bays, are hosts plants for the palamedes swallowtail. Red bay is a favorite; sweet bay, not so much. Sweet bay is listed as a host, but in experiments, University of Florida researchers noted that palmedes swallowtail caterpillars won't touch the stuff.

Adult palamedes swallowtails have a more varied diet, nectaring on thistles, blue flag and other flowers.

The palamedes swallowtail butterfly is a member of papilionidae, the swallowtail family.

I found these two enjoying the nectar of a Thistle at the Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area in Osceola County, Florida.
