YES, 60 YEARS AGO, Hawkeye and Chingachgook, lived somewhere in Mimico, along the Lakeshore in a low-rise apartment not far from AUDIO PICTURES (also on Lakeshore) which was the location of the INDOOR TV set of “Hawkeye and The Last of The Mohicans”.
John Hart (Hawkeye) described his Mimico residence as a large apartment house overlooking Lake Ontario. He had a great view of the Toronto skyline, off in the distance. Lon Chaney, Jr. (Chingachgook) had an apartment upstairs from John.
So does anybody know where “Hawkeye …the First of the Long-Rifles” lived?!
RED CIRCLE: Likely area location of Hawkeye and Chingachgook’s apartment house.
YELLOW CIRCLE: Part of Toronto and Toronto skyline John could see from his apartment.

REMEMBER FOLKS, “HAWKEYE AND THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS” paved the way for all future TV shows, movies, and commercials that were eventually filmed in Canada.
2017 is the 60TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the latter half of the TV SHOW being filmed in Pickering and Toronto. As well, it is the 60TH ANNIVERSARY of the show's release on Canadian TV.
Before “Hawkeye” there was nada.
Or only a handful of productions, certainly NOT the 2 billion dollar movie/TV biz we have in Canada today.
That started with “Hawkeye”. A cool million was allocated to the show’s creation and production in Pickering and Toronto.
With “Hawkeye” it was proven that TV and movie production companies could still create the on-film quality their audiences expected, but at a cheaper cost, and they could also get around British Commonwealth rules which greatly restricted American TV shows that were deemed to have too much American content.
Filming in Canada, and using mostly Canadian actors, to produce TV shows or movies got around these British empire restrictions. Content that would only have been seen in the USA and Canada, was now seen across the entire vast British Commonwealth.

DON'T FORGET, THIS TRIP BACK IN TIME was helped along because of the great research efforts of others, and the 'Hawkeye' fanship of others.
I learned that "Hawkeye", one of my fav boyhood TV shows, was actually filmed in CANADA through one of the links below.
So I had to check things out (go there), MYSELF, because of that.
So, do check out these "Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans" links below!
