Kiddo reads to Casey (a dog, of course) at the library. He is reading The Mystery at Skeleton Point, a Boxcar Children book, by Gertrude Chandler Warner.

Back to shooting film. I started taking pictures in the early aughts and had to use film because it was the cheapest medium available at that time. Digital was prohibitively expensive. Now it has come full circle: film is a luxury item, expensive to buy and develop (the cameras are still cheap though), and challenging to work with. But I prefer both the process and the results. Yes, digital is technically superior in every measurable way, but in looking back on two decades’ worth of photos, I can say unequivocally that my film photos are my favorite, grain and all.
This is a large adult (dominant) male and offspring. This photo (and a number of others in this set) were taken from the shore as we walked to a crocodile nesting site. We had tried to get there by boat, but the channel of the Olifants River, entering Loskop Dam, is relatively narrow and he would not let us pass without charging the boat. So, we beached the boat and walked the shore toward the nesting site. As we walked - he walked....up the river following us and telling me I was plenty close enough and should leave. Eventually, after our work was done, we did and he 'won', as it should be.
