At the woodland photography workshop, mentioned in my previous postings, close to Værløse, I spotted this place with all the sunlight streaming down through the canopy, creating all the wonderful light and shadows in the image and I managed to get this shot on camera. The way that the sun and shadows made the leading lines towards the tree in the back, the darker, shadowy area to the right and the beefy, delightfully lit tree in the front. Just amazing!
And no, I haven't used HDR for this. Really, I haven't!
Another shot from the World Heritage Site Stevns Klint, this time using long exposure. It was a very beautiful spring day but a little windy, which obviously affects the sharpness of plants and trees that moved during the exposure. I don't think it ruins the shot in any way though.
4m 23s is how long this shot was exposed. I used 15 stop ND filters to achieve the long exposure time. I used a reference shot without filters to calculate the exposure time using Photopills.
Sunrise. Very long exposure of 686 seconds with a "proprietary" composition in an effort to emphasize just the sky and the sea. It was taken at Bellevue Beach north of Copenhagen and yes, you have seen the jetty before from a different perspective. I had decided to get up to try and catch blue hour but alas, my brain did not want me to get out of bed that early. Instead, I managed to force myself to catch golden hour.
Not that much to say about this one, except that I thoroughly enjoyed my time there, with the sun first below the horizon and then watching it rise above it. Simply a stunning experience, which was further emphasized by the complete silence; except for 3 more people (who were all there to simply enjoy the sunrise), I was completely alone. No traffic on the otherwise busy road behind me either.
I was a little worried that I might catch the sun in the shot when it rose above the horizon but besides the very bright light to the right in the image, I had managed to turn the camera away from the direct sun. I was also spared of any flaring.
I used 11 stop ND filters and a reference shot to help me calculate the exposure time using PhotoPills. I had to take the exposure down in post processing and I think that was because the sun came up above the horizon far quicker than I had anticipated and hence there was a lot more light than when I started the long exposure.
Oh, and in case you are wondering: The land you can see in the distance is the coast of Sweden.

A cold late February morning on Teignmouth beach, South Devon where a keen North Easterly breeze was wipping up the sea creating some lovely movement in the water.

Sunrise. 5 stop'ed long exposure of the jetty and rocks against the beautiful sunrise and the, as it turned out, glassy looking sea. It was taken at Bellevue Beach north of Copenhagen and yes, you have seen the jetty before from a different perspective.
As mentioned previously, I used a 5 stop ND filter to slow down the exposure a little but otherwise no other filters were on the camera.

Røsnæs Lighthouse is located at the most western location of Zealand in Denmark. The lighthouse was built between 1844 and 1846 where there was previously a defensive location with cannons. It is still in use as a lighthouse and house a museum and a cafe. The Røsnæs area is beautiful place to visit. There are great trails for hiking as well.
For this shot I used a variable 5 stop ND filter set to ND32 and a 10 stop square filter in front of that, giving a total of 15 stops. This allowed me to reach the 4m 23s exposure time I wanted to smooth out the sea. I did a reference shot without any fiters and then calculated the correct 15 stop exposure time using Photopills. This is the colour version of a previously posted B&W of the same shot.
For the composition I tried using the golden ration and lead the viewer's eyes towards the lighthouse with lines on the slope and the beach - looking at it now, the smoothed out sea actually has lines as well (well done me haha). With the rocks in the front left I tried to create balance in the frame.
I passed this close to the town of Rødvig when I was driving home from Stevns recently and I just had to get a shot of it. It really was this bright - I think because the plants on the field were damp but I am not sure.
One day I thought about going to approximately the same location where I captured April Emotions back in, well...April of this year to see how it would look now. I was quite surprised to find how much the growth of plants this spring and summer so far has covered the canal/drain surrounding the field. Anyway, here is the Summer Edition of the capture.
The cottage is part of a restaurant called Jægerhytten, which is unfortunately closed for good unless a buyer turns up. It seems the current owner has given up so if you have the cash...
Yet another daylight long exposure landscape shoot - I am quickly becoming addicted to daylight long exposure! Manual mode same as last to get more experience. I chose f/16 to allow for the exposure time I wanted (15-20 secs)
Thanks again to Adam and his Landscape Masterclass at First Man Photography - without that I really wouldn't have considered going manual and not even gotten the shot because going through that masterclass has made me rethink how I shoot landscapes. I am still learning; I still struggle when looking for interesting subjects and also the composition. Also, ISO, aperture and shutterspeed is something I still need to incorporate into my workflow for each shot because I tend to forget checking and setting them. Heh.

I went to Sjælsø north of Copenhagen to find some good shots. Having been a while since I last did some work with my DSLR, I first had a "bummer" feeling when I arrived; too late for all the glory of blue hour, golden hour and sunrise I felt a bit disappointed that I weren't able to drag myself out of bed earlier. However, after having done a few really bad shots, I started getting the vibe of the place and amongst others I got this one.
The cottage is part of a restarant called Jægerhytten, which is unfortunately closed at the moment.

This tree looked amazing against the water and the kayak was a great bonus!
I felt a B&W would work best - which I, by the way, I belive is true with most snow-less winter/early spring shots.
What do you think?
I hope I didn't go overboard with the grain and the vignetting...
