Poppy and lemon seed cake, cream cheese filling, covered with red fruit meringue..... no sugar!!! wow
A very pleasant 90 minutes was spent at Ketton with Andy and Tom enjoying the peace and tranquility of the Rutland countryside whilst reminiscing on past railway times. Behind us was a lower quadrant solitary signal which apparently is the oldest working signal in the country, ahead of us was the attractive signal box that stood guard at the level crossing. Wildlife was all around us and rabbits darted out of the hedgerows hopping across the tracks as people passed by politely enquiring about the purpose of our visit which made a pleasant change to the usual bellows of 'Train Wankers' !

Tuna with cucumbers and tomatoes. I made a mayo, mustard, lemon salt and white pepper dressing to serve with the tuna.
It has been way too long since I posted. It always feels weird to post after a long absence. I've missed flickr and seeing everyone's inspiring work. Once of my New Year's focuses is going to be giving myself creative time.
Yes - that is a CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) on my arm. I am unfortunately pre-diabetic so I am working on lowering my glucose levels. The joys of aging! So, in addition to cycling and running, I've added weight training into my exercise mix. And I am brutally low carb - almost keto. I thought of photoshopping out the CGM but decided to just leave it in the photo. It just might be part of me now. It's really crazy to see almost in real time how my body reacts to what I eat.

Mosaic made by assembling polychrome tiles with colored grouts, depicting a “ketos”, or marine monster.
The ketoi are essentially linked to the myths of Hesione and Andromache. These two girls had a similar fate: they were tied by their fathers on the rocks near the sea and offered to the marine monsters to appease the wrath of the gods. The first was rescued by Heracles on the beach of Troy, while the second was saved by Perseus.
