I think that's the funniest album cover Madness has ever done, so I did it myself (albeit not as well).

The band running is so blaringly obvious for the title that it comes off as funny to me.

Front to Back: Nelson (on bike), Jamie (in golf clothes, it looks like), Thomas (his head on Jamie's shoulder), myself (in the bee attire), Jeremy (with the badminton racket).

One of the two wings of the Liyari Expressway finishes here, where it touches the Mauripur Road, Karachi.

My first submission for Neil Gaiman's Calendar of Tales (keepmoving.blackberry.com/desktop/en/us/ambassador/neil-g...)

This one's for the April Tale.

What I've tried to recreate with my cousins. The photo is here.

I've always found it extremely funny, just the over-whelming obviousness of what the band seemed struggled to do - it's called 'Keep Moving,' so they go out on a track to really, really illustrate the title so well it might just be too much of an illustration.

L-R: D. Woodgate (drums), M. Barson (keyboards, piano, etc), M. Bedford (bass), L. Thompson (sax's) G. McPherson (vocals), C. Smyth (backing vocals, trumpet), C. Foreman (guitars).

The real reason they're running on a track was for some sort of advertisement or TV promo that never aired, so they took a still photograph of it and used it on the cover.

It is hard for me to explain why hiking and being out in nature is so important to me.

Often times, there are sections along a trail in that are quite difficult. Steep terrains,

rain, dense fog, snow, bees and other bugs, bears and mountain goats, the unrelenting

heat, wind, cold and I suppose many other additional concerns.

None of these things really matter. If you are prepared, everything will be okay.

Sore legs from a tough climb, so what. Hikers are athletes. We deal with all sorts

of problems. Sore muscles, tweaked backs, blisters. It goes with the territory. You

trust your instincts and move on. No complaining, just gratitude.

What matters the most really, is knowing that a good hike will bring about solitude.

I choose not to do things easy. Being in the back country wakes up all of my senses.

The beauty one sees and the lands that one explores is fully appreciated, as are the

many that traveled these pathways before me. I am grateful to put my boots on trails

so well loved.

Being in nature is a love affair. Just like a relationship, there are good times and trying

times. A person learns to adjust to the various conditions as they develop. It is all about

gaining wisdom, trusting your gut feelings and having a strong resolve to accomplish

often times difficult tasks.

Combining these elements with friends and photography completes the adventure and

thus begins the planning for another rendezvous with nature. I am so very lucky :)

Many thanks to the usual suspects for my romps on the trails; Ken, Kelsie and Jason.

Each of them talented artists and good companions. Passionate about hiking, writing

and photography----all winning combinations and motivators for me to continue on!

I hope to add Danielle and Orion to some of our future adventures. They are amazing too :)

“Up The Junction”

~~~~~~~~~~
It’s the classic tale. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, move in together and have a baby. Sometimes, we mess up the “classic love story” with problems which causes our life to derail. Sure, we may wake up and realize how we messed up. Unfortunately, by then it’s three years later and it’s too late to fix that mistake. Without a Third Rail to drive us, we’ll have no place to go.
It’s not over yet! We can still find our third rail! When we find it, we need to hang on, don’t let go and follow it, where ever it may take us. We still have time to stop ourselves from being Up The Junction!
Art & Fear
Observations On the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking
by David Bayles & Ted Orland
“If, indeed, for any given time only a certain sort of work resonates with life, then that is the work you need to be doing in that moment. If you try to do some other work, you will miss your moment. Indeed, our own work is so inextricably tied to time and place that we cannot recapture even our own aesthetic ground of past times. Try, if you can, to reoccupy your own aesthetic space a few years back, or even a few months. There is no way. You can only plunge ahead, even when that carries with it the bittersweet realization that you have already done your very best work.”
"Automatic Door
Keep Moving"
is how the full sign reads. I thought it a little ominous sounding actually. They have all these automatic glass doors partitioning the different areas and climates and they clearly must have a problem with visitors stepping into the door and not moving (maybe because they're trying to take in all of the new sights before them), but the keep moving part, it's just a little too totalitarian sounding.
Then again, I could be reading into this door sign a bit much. Really I just liked this decal because it was the only one I saw that was all cracked up and the sun was shinning directly into it and we were in one of the few empty corridors and I could stop for a moment to shoot.
There are two types of people in this world: the lions and the sheep, or the alpha’s and beta’s of society. Then you have the useless insects that have found little purpose within their lives and are too afraid to do anything to change so they just sit on the side lines and talk more shit than the sheep do. You need to look yourself in the mirror and recognize what type of person you really are. Are you a lion or are you just going to be a sheep all your life? Are you going to be a small mind that just worries about what others are doing with themselves? Or are you going to be a great mind, think for yourself and actually do something with your ideas? The lion doesn’t seek attention and approval to feel good about him or herself. There is only one opinion about yourself you should worry about, and that is your own. The sheep worry about what other sheep say about them because they are members of the same social class.The easiest way to become a nobody who doesn’t stand out is to sit there and monitor what everyone is saying about you so you can change yourself based on their standards. But if you do indeed want to break through the status quo and make something out of your life, you need to attain the confidence to make you understand that you are a force to be reckoned with, no matter what others say about you. Sheep are always going to talk because they are angry that they never reached the type of success you will attain or had the courage to try. Those who don’t do, talk. In a world that is made up of young adults stalking each other and gossiping to numb their insecurities, please rise above this rubbish and worry about the direction of your own life, not somebody else’s. is.#bealion#beawolf#motivation #inspire #focused #fearless #humble #workhardstayhumble #dontgiveup #successquotes #nevergiveup #chaseyourdreams #entrepreneurs #business #businessminded #venturedeals #venturecapital#entrepreneurship#quotes #keepmoving#bossbabe#bosslady #business #passion#haters#workhard#mindyourownbusiness#instagood #instamood #instapic - sheconquers
"What is the strangest thing that ever happened to you in February?"
"Met a girl on beach, searching for her grandma's pendant, lost 50 years ago. I had it, found previous Feb."
I made this for a collaborative project called A Calendar of Tales. Neil Gaiman, one of my favorite authors, is collaborating with fans to put together a calendar. It started with question prompts for each month which fans answered on Twitter. Then Neil chose one response for each month and wrote a short story. Now all the short stories are online, and fans can create illustrations in a wide variety of media (including video) to be part of the collection. One for each month will be paired with the story and published in the calendar, but the real fun is getting to be part of this big creative Thing. I really enjoyed working on this, and I am excited to see the other beautiful things people are making.
