Phoebe wanrs the Lady of the Lake, that a world war is brewing on the surface, but the material used in this war comes from the deepest chambers of Undermountain. She shall prepare and breed warriors in her fey-swamp, we mgiht need them.

The conflict is, that she believes to be save and away from all things here, but Phoebe disagrees and uses her presence and authority to convince the Lady to prepare. She gives in.

On our way to Kkullport Halldór asks the vampiress in our party, the First Queen of the Melayrkin, what he has to do, in order to really become King of the dwarves. Apparently there are six clans, who must be either convinced or forced to support or submit to Halldór. If we are to stop the Zentharim and Red Hand, we will need their support even more than a little fey-army.

The members of the council are happy to see us still alive and tell us of the situation at hand:

Skullport basically consists of two parts: A peninsula, where the Zentharim and The Eye are in control, and the rest of the city at land, where the normal populace lives. Taking the peninsula is pretty hard. The Zentharim have the problem, that they cannot get reinforcements through, as the city is still controlled by the rebels, but they also have a natural choke-point with the peninsula, and they have superior firepower, as they are supported by The Eye and his beholders.

It was not possibly to wait any longer with an assault, since more and more people are being abducted. It was now or never. But due to the firepower the Zentharim have, and the terrain advantage, the battle isn't going well.

The Eye now resides in a floating fortress and can strike anywhere in the city with his beholders. He also seems to be able to control the Zentharim troups. So there is only one thing for us to do: Assault the floating fortress of The Eye. The masked council will stage a distraction, so we can enter hopefully without alerting all the beholders around to our presence.

Fiur, Pikka and Hilda are teaming up on the remaining guard. He won't last long, but the beholders are putting heavy pressure on the two girls!

After our "little" adventure in Maddgos laboratory, we return to the normal-sized world and accompany the svirfneblin back to their home, so they can rebuild it.

We decide we want to visit Skullport, but before we do that, we pay a visit to the Lady of the Lake, one of the remaining Fey in undermountain, and she recognizes Phoebe as the new archfey. There is still a slight hint of conflict though ...

So one beholders turns on the other, while we turn on the beholder.

Halldór even manages to convince the dwarf, who survived the show-fight against the bugbear, to join our cause. More dwarven allies are properly a good thing. Halldór doesn't even need to rely on the power of his axe this time.

And with the combined firepower we first destroy the charmed beholder, almost before it can recover...

While Halldór was hacking away at the enemies and turning them into bloodied messes already, Phoebe suddenly unleashed a terrible monstrous shriek. And she hit every enemy nearby. (Sometimes you have to get lucky).

The effect was devastating: Heads exploded, bloodied enemies collapsed dead. The advantage of injuring so many enemies badly is, that you can pull off such a mass-kill-stunt with greater ease. You just have to work for it really hard.

Then the gates burst open and the beholders float into the room. We really should have barricaded the door.

Up until this point, the fight was pretty straightforward, with normal attack rolls. The only special thing was, that our enemies seem to roll critical hits a lot more often. Even something as low as 17 can be a critical for them. Lucky Pikka can heal really, really well by now.

Fiur faces off against one of the beholders. Additional to their main attack, which is pretty strong already, we need to make a save every round against their eye-rays, which deal a random attack to each of us failing the save.

And Phoebe has left her monster-form, to prepare a charm-attack against one of the beholders, but what happened before that?

WHen we return to Skullport, the city is a mess. Apparently war has broken out between the rebels of the masked council of Waterdeep (who have fled to Skullport) and the Zentharim, wo are supported by The Eye. The Eye being a really big beholder, whom we have dealt with before. He's only interested in money and power.

The city is burning in several places, many buildings are destroyed. We try to visit Halldór's clan here, but they are gone, and it looks like their halls have suffered from an attack. There are still peasants around, but no one can tell us what exactly happened. What they can tell us, though, is that people have gotten abducted by the Zentharim apparently to work in some mines. They have never been seen again. And recently the number of people vanishing has increased considerably, which caused the rebels to act.

Here the heroes are visiting the headquarters of the masked council. They have also been hit, but their building is still standing and well-guarded.

Only the two beholders are left. They are enough of an issue by themselves, though. Their hungry maws, those eye-stalks - there are magical beams everywhere and screams, and blood.

And a moment later, a massive hack-and-slash assault sends them prone! It is these tactical details, that I love about D&D 4, and which I miss in most other games: Bind your enemies, control what they do, and slam them prone. All while still dealing damage.

The two arena-fighters are still lost in their own ritual battle.

Almost everyone makes a graceful landing. Phoebe does not, crashing down rather hard. Those who properly made the landing can start a surprise attack. The guards behind us, beside the door, are as surprised as the rest.

Our entry didn't go completely unnoticed from defenders outside though: Two beholders saw us slam through the door.

Halldór suddenly has only very enemies still surrounding him. Generally, the field around him looks strangely clean of enemies, doesn't it?

Of course it isn't clean. There are bodies and blood everywhere, but, alas, I don't really want to Photoshop these details all in ;)

Phoebe manages to mentally subdue one of the beholders for one round. She doesn't really want to know, what the creature sees through her fey magic, when it's looking at her ....

Halldór starts hacking at enemies all around him. He changes into a combat stance, that will deal damage to everyone around him. At least minions will fall easily like that.

Inside we find quite some people, who should be guarding this entrance against intruders, but no one really is. There is a barricade, but it is barely manned. A lot of kobolds, goblins and hobgoblins are watching what appears to be stages fight between a dwarf and a bugbear instead.

Pikka slams the other wing shut. We should barricade the door, but we lack the time.

Hacking away at the enemies surrounding him, Halldór dances between them, shifting from one to the next. This battle is a little bit "old-school" for us: Instead of concentrating on killing one enemy, the plan seems to be to bloody as many of them, as we can.

After her not-so-successful assault, Phoebe takes an arrow at close range - a critical hit, and sitll screeching with terrible pain, a cloud of magical darkness bursts forth around her, her hacks brutally at the archer, and slips a bit away from him.

And then we can concentrate on the second one, even if its eye-beams are giving us quite some trouble.

Now we are ready to advance deeper into the keep and deal with The Eye. It probably won't go this smoothly ...

Pikka turns to one of the guards behind us, so they don't get the idea of assaulting the semi-helpless archfey/dryad faceplanting on the ground here.
