Yordano Ventura, RHP, Kansas City Royals.

He was the starter in the Royals-Mariners game this summer evening.

Photo taken Friday evening 8 July 2016.

Sadly, Ventura was killed in a car accident in his native Dominican Republic on 22 January 2017.

RIP Yordano Ventura.

Go Royals, take the Crown this year. I love this team.

The Royals got whipped but we still had a great time. This is a close up of the pom pom Audrey kept shaking in our faces.

KC Royals won the central division last night. :)

I'm so proud of my Kansas City Royals who won the 2015 World Series; 12 innings tonight to win the Series 4 games to 1. And it's still Sunday, so this is for Sliders Sunday. Yeah Royals, you are an awesome team.

And I need to make it to the K next year for a game so I don't have to keep reprocessing the same photo from last August.

I took dozens of photos of Yordano over the years, but this is probably my favorite. He left us way too soo, dying in a car crash in his home country of the Domincan Republic at only 25 years old. RIP Ace.

This statue commemorates Kansas City Royals Hall of Famer George Brett. A native of West Virginia who grew up in southern California, he spent his entire twenty-one-year major league career with the organization. The only player to win three batting titles in three different decades, Brett also captured three Silver Slugger Awards, one American League Most Valuable Player Award, and one Gold Glove Award during his career. Following the 1993 season, the thirteen-time All-Star retired. Finishing with 3,154 hits, 317 home runs, and a .305 batting average, Brett is only one of four players in major league history with 3,000 hits, 300 home runs, and a .300 or greater career batting average. In 1999, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America elected him to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. He remains the only player to represent the Royals in Cooperstown. On August 11, 2001, before their game against the Detroit Tigers, the Royals unveiled a statue of Brett outside Kauffman Stadium. Designed by artist Kwan Wu, the life-sized bronze sculpture fittingly depicts the club’s longtime third baseman at the plate. Dressed in his Royals uniform, with his bat cocked in his hands and his eyes focused on the incoming pitch, Brett picks up his right foot, beginning his hitting stride. In 2009, after Kauffman Stadium underwent significant renovations, the organization moved the statue inside the ballpark to the new right centerfield concourse.
