Click on the image to view on Black. This portrait of Katrina was taken at an outdoor model shoot with Steve’s lights organized by Offshoot – originally it was planned for Dalkey but rain meant we moved to a DART underpass near Killiney Bay. It was taken with the ever-sharp Canon EFS 17-55 lens at f5.6, 55 mm and ISO 200 for 1/125th of a second. I asked Katrina to move out from the wall to blur the background but this also resulted in underexposure because she was at the edge of the lit area – but as I shot in raw I had plenty of flexibility to correct this in Lightroom 3. I also de-saturated the background and the reds in the skin tones and used several Lightroom brushes (memory intensive!) to smooth skin, sharpen and enhance the eye area, reduce lines under the eyes, enhance the pink makeup colours, reduce the shadow near the nose and sharpen her hair. Compare with Peter’s B&W approach and Janet’s pose. Thanks also to Dave Stanaway for advice on exposure & white balance on the night and for critiquing the shot.

Katrina Kaif Bollywood Actress

It was Thursday at about 4pm and the winds were picking up.

I wasn't on Flickr yesterday, which was Katrina Bell's birthday. I just wanted to wish her a happy, happy the day after. Katrina really is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I took this photo of her the first evening we arrived at the castle. You can't see her beautiful face, but I assure you, the view would only be more breath-taking if she were to turn around. Happy birthday Katrina Bell. I hope you had a great one.

Love,

Dyxie Bell

Barbie Katrina Kaif, inspired in the famous bollywood actress.

She has the Lara mold, my fave, great dark two tone brunette hair.

She will be a favorite.

There is one like her in Evil Bay.

This is my house after Katrina. Fortunately we hadn't gotten as far on remodeling this summer as planned. The siding had not gone on, new windows, the upstairs windows and dormer, and the new green metal roofing..... or the kitchen remodel. You can see in the picture, where the steep part of the roof ends and the slighter slope starts, everthing from there back on the south side, about 15 ft wide, is crushed. You can't even walk through inside. The ceiling has fallen, the roof is caved in, the exterior wall is falling in.... major structural damage. On the steep part of the roof, the back side of the steep part had the tree laid through it so there is water damage in everything in those rooms in that part of the house. Everything in my closet, my son's room, and the dining room. The dining room celing has collapsed and the walls are seriously water damaged. The heart pine floors in the dining room are being refinished and weren't sealed so I hope it doesn't harm them too bad.

On a positive note, look how level the foundation work is looking.... easy to see in these pictures since the new siding hasn't gone on yet. I'm just hoping the house isn't totalled and I can finish it. This house is probably 120 years old and I am sick of the restoration work. Ready to be finished. But if somethng happened now and it couldn't be finished, I would be really upset.

According to the Houston Chronicle, before and after Hurricane Katrina’s landfall on Aug. 29, 2005, more than 1 million residents from Louisiana and Mississippi fled their homes. At least 250,000 made it to Houston, with more than 27,000 seeking food, shelter and services at the Astrodome and other area shelters over the next month.

Staff from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs went to the Astrodome on Sept. 2, 2005, to assist Katrina evacuees with finding housing. Within several months, most evacuees were in Houston area apartments, not long-term shelters. According to the Chronicle, as many as 40,000 evacuees permanently settled in the Houston metro area.
