Im Moment kann ich noch zwei Interessen miteinander verbinden. Zum einen suche ich nach Speisepilzen und zum anderen gehe ich meiner Leidenschaft als Fotograf nach. Auch hier sind es Schirme, die eine dünne Kappe haben und daher leicht zu beleuchten sind.

La saison photo 2018 semble être un bon cru pour le Martin pêcheur , mais de là à dire que ça sera un grand millésime .....faut pas pousser le bouchon trop loin ! Petite précision : cette image est 100% naturelle et n'est en aucun cas le résultat d'un quelconque bidouillage informatique , c'est trois semaines de présence au bord de l'eau avec l'ultime espoir de voir débarquer l'oiseau tant attendu prendre la pose quelques secondes .

My choices for "Pick Two" are: metallic and stone. Most of you know that I like science fiction and all things space-related, so it's probably not a surprise that I'm also interested in the "visitors" from outer space: meteorites. I have collected a few over the years, nothing special, as the really rare and/or valuable pieces are expensive, and the "expensive department" has been taken over by camera gear in the last years ;). Anyways, the meteorite I've chosen as my "metallic stone" was the first meteorite I've ever bought. It's an iron meteorite from Arizona, from the famous Barringer Crater. The longest side has 2,5 cm / 0,98 inches.
Since the meteorite itself is of an unconspicious dark brown / greyish colour, I've once again experimented with my makeshift colour filters to liven it up. My collection of these makeshift filters has only recently been supplemented by a semi-transparent yellow cap (from a dish soap bottle) which works surprisingly well and produces a very sunny yellow. It looked nice, and I'm sure you will see this yellow in a future MM photo, but in the end I decided to give the prism another try, because the position of the evening sun was just right to create another rainbow :) Just like with my rusty rivet shrooms which I'd taken for the "Rust" theme a few weeks ago, I was surprised how well this metallic stone took on the rainbow colours of the prism, making it actually look as if the colours were in the metal, and not a mere projection created by the sunshine.
Technicalities: the image is another focus stack made from 15 images which I've combined in Helicon Focus (A, radius 7, smoothing 2). Further processed in Viveza, where I'd darkened the background, in Luminar AI for detail enhancements (small and medium) on the meteorite, and in Analog Efex for a slightly matte look.

Juni-Meteorit
Mein Wortpaar für das "Pick-Two"-Thema ist metallisch und Stein: ein Eisenmeteorit. Wie einige von Euch ja wissen, bin ich ein Science-Fiction-Fan, und so ist es nicht weiter verwunderlich, dass ich mich auch für die echten "Besucher" aus dem All interessiere, die Meteoriten. Ich habe eine klitzekleine Sammlung, nichts besonderes, denn die wirklich wertvollen und/oder seltenen Stücke sind sehr teuer – und die "Abteilung teuer" hat sich in den letzten Jahren eindeutig in Richtung Kamera und alles drumherum verlagert ;) Dieser Eisenmeteorit mit dem runden "Auge" in der Mitte war mein erster Meteorit überhaupt, er stammt aus dem berühmten Barringer-Krater in Arizona.
Da diese Art vom Meteorit keine besonders aufregende Farbgebung hat (Dunkelbraun-gräulich), kamen zunächst wieder meine improvisierten Farbfilter zum Einsatz, die kürzlich Zuwachs in Form einer halbtransparenten, sonnengelben Plastikschraubkappe von einer Spüli-Flasche bekommen haben. Diese Kappe funktioniert erstaunlich gut als Farbfilter und Ihr werdet das schöne Gelb, das sie erzeugt, sicherlich bei einem anderen MM-Thema sehen. Denn am Ende habe ich doch wieder zum Prisma gegriffen, weil die Abendsonne gerade so günstig durch das Fenster hereinschien und viele schöne Regenbogenfarben erzeugte :) Wie schon bei meinen rostigen "Niet-Pilzen", die ich vor einigen Wochen für das "Rust"-Thema fotografiert hatte, war ich auch hier überrascht, wie gut die metallische Oberfläche die Farben angenommen hat, fast so, als wären sie Bestandteil der Meteoriten-Oberfläche und nicht eine bloße Lichtprojektion.
Das Foto ist wieder ein Fokus-Stack bestehend aus 15 Fotos, die ich dieses Mal in Helicon Focus zusammengefügt habe (Methode A, Radius 7, Smoothing 2). Ich habe dann in Viveza den Hintergrund abgedunkelt, in Luminar AI die Meteoriten-Details hervorgehoben und abschließend in Analog Efex einen leichten Matt-Look hinzugefügt.

Die Mühle in Exter ist eine Holländerwindmühle mit Jalousieklappenflügeln, die nordseitig von einem Wall umgeben ist. Im unteren Bereich ist sie mit einer Durchfahrtmöglichkeit ausgestattet. Als Besonderheit besitzt die Mühle heute eine begehbare Holzgalerie an der Südseite an Stelle des vorherigen Walles, von der aus der Blick über Nordlippe bis zum Teutoburger Wald reicht. Die Mühle wurde mit Bruchsandsteinen aus der Umgebung erbaut und besitzt mit Kellergeschoss sechs Etagen. Der sichtbare Mühlenturm ist rund 18 Meter hoch, die Flügelpaarlänge beträgt etwa 23 Meter. Die drehbare Kappe wurde anfangs noch von Hand mit einer Stert genannten Balkenkonstruktion in die optimale Windrichtung gedreht. Bei der gründlichen Renovierung und Umgestaltung vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg ersetzte den Stert eine Windrose an der Kappe. Ursprünglich war die Mühle mit zwei Mahlgängen ausgestattet, jeweils einem für Schrot und Roggen. Ein Weizenmahlgang kam erst später dazu. Heute besitzt die Mühle wiederum nur zwei Mahlgänge für Schrot und Roggen.

... and that was better that way ;-) we've never experienced such aggressive seagulls ... We suspected that the two of them probably had their nest very close by. It was still a lot of fun and a great experience. Nobody was harmed or injured.

... und das war auch besser so ;-) wir haben noch nie so agressive Möwen erlebt ... Wir haben vermutet, dass die Beiden wohl ganz in der Nähe ihre Brutstätte hatten. Es hat dennoch unglaublich viel Spaß gemacht und war ein tolles Erlebnis. Niemand wurde gequält oder verletzt.

Ehemalige Kaffeesäcke erhalten ein neues Leben und werden zu einem individuellen Hut. Dies ist nichts für Langeweile - so wie jeder Jutesack anders ist, sind auch die Hüte anders. Ob Panamahut, flache Kappe oder Pork Pie Hut, der Kaffeefan sucht dieses Modell zwischen den Lieblingstypen und der Hutgröße. Möchten Sie lieber einen Cappuccino oder ein Café Noir?

Es gibt ein paar Dinge, die ich mir beim fotografieren von Vögeln angewöhnt habe. Eines davon ist, dass ich versuche jeden Vogel, der an mir vorbeiflattert zu fotografieren wenn ich ihn nicht 100% erkenne und dann bewusst ausschließe. Mir war nämlich aufgefallen, dass unter den vielen "Spatzen", die ich nicht unbedingt eines Bildes für würdig befunden hatte immer wieder Vögel dabei sind, die eben keine Spatzen sind. Diese Mönchsgrasmücke ist so ein Fall, die hätte ich ohne meine Verhaltensänderung völlig verpasst und wüsste jetzt nicht einmal, dass es bei uns Mönchsgrasmücken gibt. Identifizieren konnte ich sie erst mit dem Foto. Ob es ein Weibchen oder ein Jungvogel ist kann ich nicht sagen, beide haben im Gegensatz zum ausgewachsenen Männchen eine rötlich-braune Kappe. Leider war sie sehr schüchtern, ich bin nur auf mehr als 10m an sie herangekommen. Was man auf dem Foto nicht sieht ist, dass Mönchsgrasmücken wunderschön singen.
Tech. Detail: Das Licht in der Hecke war lausig, mit einer 1/200s und Blende 6.3 bin ich bei ISO 3200 gelandet. Das hat gerade so gereicht um Oberkörper der Grasmücke einzufrieren, ein Füßchen bewegt sich schon zu schnell und ist unscharf. Ohne den Bildstabilisator im Objektiv wäre die (freihändige) Aufnahme aber wohl gar nichts geworden. Ich konnte vier Bilder machen, zwei davon waren scharf bzw. nicht verwackelt.
Um die Grasmücke in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen euch viele Details verloren.
There are a few things where I adapted over time when photographing birds. One of those adaptations is that I try to photograph every bird that flutters past me if I don't recognize it 100%. I had noticed that among the many "sparrows" which I hadn't necessarily found worthy of a picture, there were sometimes birds that actually weren't sparrows. This blackcap is such a case, I would have completely missed it if I hadn't changed my behavior and I wouldn't even know that we have Blackcaps in our area. I cannot say whether it is a female or a young bird, both have the reddish-brown cap in contrast to the adult male that has a black cap. Unfortunately it was very shy, I could only get close to 10+m from it. What you don't see in the photo is that Blackcaps sing beautifully.
Tech detail: The light was lousy again, with a shutterspeed of 1/200s and an aperture of 6.3 I ended up at ISO 3200. That was just fast enough to fix the Blackcap's upper body, one foot is already moving too fast and is blurred. Without the image stabilizer in the lens, this (hands-free) shot would probably not have been possible at all. I got four shots of which two where in focus / not blurred.

Holzskulptur der Kettensägenkünstlerin Uschi Elias
In jedem Jahr am Wochenende nach Allerheiligen findet in Raesfeld der historische Kappesmarkt im Dorfkern statt. Jahr für Jahr lockt der Kappesmarkt mit seinem ko(h)lossalen Angebot Menschen von nah und fern an. Im Jahr 2009 feierte der Kappesmarkt sein 25.Jubiläum. Aus diesem Anlass formte die Kettensägenkünstlerin Uschi Elias die Figur der Kappes Anna aus einem 1 Meter dicken Eichenbaumstamm.
Der Ursprung des Raesfelder Kappesmarktes reicht bis ins 19.Jahrhundert zurück. Die Kappes Anna symbolisiert eine Marktfrau, wie es sie damals tatsächlich gegeben haben könnte ...
