The same species as the kale used as a food,
ornamental kale is edible to humans, though it may not taste as good as kale more traditionally used for food.
Ornamental kale is a fabulous ornamental because it lasts longer than just about anything in the garden. It even survives a few frosts. Although edible, it's bitter and used more as a garnish.

Went through the gardens looking for any signs of colour. Not much to choose from, but there was a lot of last year's kale still standing. Had not rained for several days but still very wet with dew. No spritzing - this is just how I found it. Very tiny leaves at the top of the plant.
In March, I am going to take 10 minutes each morning and try again to learn meditation. Last year I tried and was very hit and miss and just got frustrated. I have found over the past few months that I don't concentrate well and find my mind jumping around unable to focus on tasks at hand. I just finished listening to the audio book "Attending" which is about mindfulness and medical practice. I am not involved in medicine or health care but I still found it useful and informative. There are many people who I find amazing that are devout practitioners of some sort of mindfulness exercise daily, if this is their open secret then I really was to give it my best effort. Being present and able to focus better in my life sounds like a win for me and those with whom I regularly interact. If you practice meditation, please share anything that a beginner might find helpful. Thank you!
