1954 Kaiser Darrin at Lime Rock 2019

It is not very often that any of the cats actually go into the basket but on a rare occasion Kaiser decided it was the place to be (I'm surprised he fitted)

Well I survived my first week back at work. Yesterday I felt I was totally on the mend and my breathing was almost back to normal. Today, however, I am tight chested again. Hey ho!

Happy furry Friday everyone

Wishing you a healthy and safe weekend

It has been a beautiful day here today and so warm in the garden. All the cats ventured out and naturally Kaiser found just the right spot

Kaiser keeping an eye on Ray who, in Kaiser's mind, might attack from half way down our very long garden. Can never be too careful, can you Kaiser *sigh*.

We have a hosepipe ban in our county (Hampshire) from 5.00pm this evening. We haven't had any rain for a few weeks now and on top of that we have an incompetent water company who have consistently failed to invest in new reservoirs, mending leaks and generally taking care of our precious water. They were fined 90 million pounds in 2020 for dumping untreated sewage into the sea. Southern Water - that is you I'm talking about!

Oh dear - I think I've just had a Furry Friday rant

This is telling me he does not want the camera pointing at him. It is one of his favourite expressions. The weather has really turned bitingly cold here after a couple of beautiful warm weeks. We are back to minus three at night and wearing our winter coats again. My sister is visiting us tomorrow as it is my birthday next week. Four weeks today I retire, and yes, I will keep mentioning it - lol

Happy Furry Friday everyone. Wishing you a warm and cosy weekend

Von der Teufelsgasse zum Wilden Kaiser

It was really warm yesterday: Kaiser was basking like the walrus he is on the stones by the pond. If it wasn't for his big white tummy, you would never know he was there

Well it looks like Kaiser's guarantee has expired - lol. And no this was not a Christmas present - I found the photo in my archives. It has been too dark lately to take any new photos.

Taken at Burghead Beach, Moray in Scotland on the last day of a family holiday. Kai was 2 years old and 45 kilos and is fondly known as the hairy bear.

Which says put that camera down, you know I hate having my photo taken.

As my knee is still hurting, there'll be no walks for a while. We still go out into the Forest but mainly for a drive . My x-ray is not until 30 November: who knows maybe I'll get a diagnosis by Christmas -lol

Happy Furry Friday everyone.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy weekend

If you look in the right hand corner you will see a Cat IQ Test. We haven't used it yet. Not sure who is the brightest of our group but I suspect it's not Kaiser:-)) And whilst Ray was sitting on Phill's lap last night, he suddenly and dramatically fell off so he may not be a contender either.

...with Christoffelstor, also Michaelstor or Diebestor, used as prison and for torture (source Wikipedia) in the back.

From the "Freiburg Session". Pix of a quick journey to Freiburg prior to visiting Günther Wamser's slide show. He travelled from Tierra del Fuego (dt. Feuerland) to the foothills of Mt. Denali in Alaska a-horseback in 20!!! years. This slide show focused on the last 4 years from the Mexican border along the continental divide trail (CDT) following the Rockies to Alaska.

Kaiser was so absorbed in listening to the sounds coming from the kitchen, he never even noticed I had my phone camera right in his face

an emperor is always top and his crown too.

Kaiser-Wilhelm-Park, Subway Station in Essen/Germany

Saturday afternoon. And the best thing you can do? A trip to the Ruhr metropolis Essen! I knew that Essen has some inspiring and modern subway stations. And Kaiser-Wilhelm-Park is one of them. It took some time until I had the perfect setting with respect to the oncoming train and passers-by. Either people stood directly in front of my lens or weren't present. And I wanted to shoot at a low ISO number, so I had to expose at longer times and therefore could shoot less images from the train. But in the end I had the one shot which satisfied me.

I have good news for everybody that is getting bored over my pix from Freiburg. This is my second last from that session and then it's back to nature, animals and landscape again (where I feel more comfy anyway...).

But the late afternoon light after a grey and unpleasant winter day was compensation enough. It was a heart opener. It was one of these (too) rare moments when satisfaction and happiness crepes into your body. Everything just seems to be perfect. Time stands still, sounds and noise are getting low and you could hug the world... A picture can not bring this feeling back completely, but part of it...

From the Freiburg Session.

Every one of the cats had to check out the box. I love the way Kaiser's tail is angled. He also looks quite slim in this shot so I think he would like it.

Happy Furry Friday everyone.

A wet weekend so probably stay indoors. It's the Euro final on Sunday night Italy v England: Italy are the favourites but who knows what will happen on the night, especially as it is being held at Wembley, our home ground

Mountain range in the Tyrol, Austria

As usual Kaiser saying NO! to having his photo taken.

Happy Furry Friday everyone.

Wishing you a wonderful, if not limited, Easter break

The collar actually says Do Not Feed Me as, though as you can tell by Kaiser's stature, he would prefer it to read Do Feed Me

For the Smile on Saturday group - theme wearing jewellery

Trying to grab a nice photo of Kaiser lying on the bed but he had other ideas. I needed more flea treatment for them all last week but the vet won't prescribe it unless they have been seen recently. Milu didn't count as she is under the weight I required for Kaiser and Ray so I did a video call with my wonderful Spanish vet, Marina. First of all Pixie photobombed the call and hit the phone so we had to reconnect, then I had to wander from cat to cat, showing Marina who they were and that they were fine. Kaiser, who was due to be fed, meowed loudly at her, Ray headbutted the phone and Pixie stuck her backside in the air (don't ask). Anyway, happy Furry Friday everyone. Sending warm, positive thoughts to all our friends in Europe who are being effected by those dreadful floods.

Wishing all a safe and healthy weekend, especially as we are forecast extreme heat this weekend

I caught Kaiser in full flow with the stone cat who sits near 'Mojo's' grass.

As it is going to be a hot weekend, we will probably stay at home as the area will be full of tourists. We might get an early morning walk tomorrow along the coast if we get up in time. Anyway, we are off on holiday next weekend so there will lots of time to get out and about then. We are renting a cottage in Northumberland.

Happy Furry Friday everyone

Wishing you a safe and healthy weekend

It is so rare to get a portrait of Kaiser as he hates having his photograph taken, but he was sitting looking out of the kitchen door with the sun on him and I managed to 'catch' him out with a quick snap.

Happy Furry Friday!

No plans at the weekend, what with petrol shortages, wild weather and the lack of desire we will be definitely staying at home.

My sister has been in hospital all week and I am happy to report she comes home today. She text me last night to say the old lady in the bed next to her had said "What a carry on this living is" and we both agreed she was totally right.

Keep safe and happy everyone

Kaiser is sitting on this cardboard box with a keyboard inside. He can't wait to sing along to his favourite tune "Harow , is it me you're looking for?" by Lionel Ritchie !

Highlighting the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument

Shortly after the death of Kaiser Wilhelm I, the idea arose to erect a memorial to the Kaiser, who had brought about the complete unification of Germany after three wars. Three years later, in 1891, Kaiser Wilhelm II, the grandson of the deceased, chose the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz as a suitable location. In order to create space for the memorial, a port of refuge was filled in, which at that time was located at the mouth of the Moselle. The Deutsches Eck in its present form was created.

Kaiser does resemble a walrus when he is lying out like this. But like the original Walrus of Love, Barry White sang, "I Can't get Enough of Your Love Baby" And, with Kaiser, there is so much of him to love: therefore I am being kind and only showing his sweet face.

It's going to be scorchio here this weekend though not as hot as you all have it over there in Europe. We may head to Brownsea Island tomorrow where there is always a breeze blowing.

Happy Furry Friday everyone

Wishing you a weekend of shade and cool drinks

Kaiser is 13 today. He was born on the same day as Phill who won't let me say how old he is - lol.

Happy Furry Friday everyone

Wishing you a happy and healthy weekend

Well it is under wraps now Kaiser as it hasn't stopped raining all week and there is more to come next week.

We have a respite from it tomorrow but we will need waders on if we are out in the Forest.

Happy furry Friday everyone

Wishing you a dry and happy weekend

The paddle steamer Kaiser Wilhelm is one of only four paddle steamers still in active operation worldwide (2 in Germany, 1 in Great Britain, 1 in Canada); today you can take trips on the Elbe or in the port of Hamburg from its location in Lauenburg.

My journey this summer turned out completely differently than planned, overshadowed by the loss of a dear brother and marked by many changes that my own health required. Now I'm moving forward with renewed strength...

Oh no , it's part of the wheelbarrow ... He is sitting on his favourite stool. You could put the the stool anywhere and he will sit on it, as he associates it with feeding time !

Kaiser had to go to the vet today and you can tell by his expression he was none too happy. Whereas the others will jump out of their carriers and wander around the surgery, Kaiser has to be prised out of his. It was only a check up and to get some more anti-inflammatory meds for his arthritis. The vet checked his weight and he is now only 5.8 kilos: I say only because he used to be a whopping 7.5 kilos. They have a chart up in the waiting room showing a cat's equivalent age to human years, at 16 years old, Kaiser is apparently 80!
