One of those special moments when things just walk into the frame in the Philippines
Rufous Hornbill in Bankong Kahoy , the Philippines
I have been babbling about these hornbills a few pictures ago.
That's because it was most precious personal moment during our holiday in the Phils, and I hope you all don't mind one not to good, photographical speaking, picture here.
The picture is not one of my best, it lacks sharpness and that bird insisted on moving!
The moment I've seen these birds , there are three left there, all ladies , I was with my head in the clouds. My new favorite animal, the hornbill.
Curious , cheeky and not really elegant, just like me, these birds are smart in getting free food , though you really should not feed them when you are there!
Rescued from trappers , not domesticated , though feeded by BK staff, but they do find food themselves as well and they do fly free at the resort.
Hopefully, they will breed and multiply and one day Mt. Banahaw will again have Rufous Hornbills flying freely in the tropical rainforest.

On our way to Bangkong Kahoy , between Mount Banahaw and St. Cristobal in the Philippines
Located between the two mountains mentioned above, lies Bankong Kahoy , deep in the tropical rainforest in the Philippines. It's a serene mountain valley and ecological resort , located two hours drive from Metro Manila , in Dolores , Quezon.
BK Valley is the epitome of nature’s grandest gifts. Its location and features say it all. The colossal and majestic mounts of Mt. Banahaw and Mt. San Cristobal envelopes the haven. This venue makes it possible to behold breath-taking scenarios that only nature could offer. The scenic sights are even enhanced with the magical ambiance of the place. The sun, fresh air and breeze, fog and rain – all these are revealed when you delve into the BK Valley experience. It is not only a feast for the eyes and other senses. It brings you much closer to the Maker of everything grand and splendid in nature.
In the BK resort you can really feel that your in the midst of the jungle. They have three birds there, flying free but feeded, they are almost extinct and called Rufous hornbill.
Just like any other legendary places, the sitio was named after its remarkable trademark. Myriads of tree branches and trunks forming like benches (bangko in Tagalog) abound in the place.
And yes, we will be back for a stay once, but when we were there, there was so much rain, guess that's why its called the tropical rainforest.

SN/NC: Adonidia Merrillii, Arecaceae Family
Adonidia merrillii is native to the Phillipines, and so carries a
common name as Manila Palm as well.
This extremely popular and easily grown small landscape palm can be seen in most tropical locations through out the world. It is a shame that this adaptable attractive little palm is so widely grown that it is taken for granted as "nothing special." It is a neat and tidy pinnate palm with a short green crownshaft under a dozen or so recurved leaves, all atop a grey leaf scarred trunk slightly swollen at the base.

This is the original image of the Nuestra Senora de Penafrancia commissioned by Miguel Robles de Covarrubias in the 1700s. A dog was killed to obtain blood to be used to paint the image . The dead dog was thrown in the Naga River but later was seen alive swimming in the river towards his owner's residence. This was the first miracle in Nueva Caceres which happened during the Spanish period. One would notice that the face of the child Jesus is already erased. This resulted after the image was stolen in the 1980s. It is said that the image was buried in the ground without any protection.
Sariaya beach , Philippines , wood
A day at the beach near Sariaya. It's not the white sands of Boracay, but it's a nice beach anyway.
Nice swimming water temperature and a trip with a bangka makes the day.
Not many things to photograph there, but I tried to make something of it.

“I believe in you and me. I'm like Albert Schweitzer and Bertrand Russell and Albert Einstein in that I have a respect for life--in any form. I believe in nature, in the birds, the sea, the sky, in everything I can see or that there is real evidence for. If these things are what you mean by God, then I believe in God.”
Frank Sinatra, American Actor and Singer (1915 - 1998)
The pipits are a genus of small passerine birds with medium to long tails. The genus has more than three dozen species. Along with the wagtails and longclaws, the pipits make up the family Motacillidae.
They are slender, often drab, ground-feeding insectivores of open country. Pipits are ground nesters, laying up to six speckled eggs.
The Golden Pipit, Tmetothylacus tennelus, belongs to a distinct, monotypic genus.
Ang Pipit (The Sparrow) by Levi Celerio
May pumukol sa pipit
Ngunit parang taong bumigkas,
"Mamang kay lupit,
Ang puso mo'y di na nahabag,
Pag pumanaw ang buhay ko,
May isang pipit na iiyak."
Sa masagana Mong awa
Walang di nananariwa
tuyong kahoy nagdadagta
Kung ikaw ang mag-alaga.

Life is too ironic to fully understand. It takes sadness to know what happiness is; noise to appreciate silence; and absence to value presence
