(Alcedo atthis). I spent a very pleasant couple of hours in the company of this youngster, He did manage to catch a few fish but kept flying to a far off perch to eat them!
A juvenile robin perched on a plant pot in my green house. This bird is a regular visitor to my garden and flies in and out of the green house when the door and windows are open.
This is a lesser goldfinch - I was corrected - thanks, David, Michelle and Digital Plume Hunter! Spotted it at Fernhill.
Not quite as flamboyant as their adult counterparts but they are still one of my favorite fall bird species.

(Southern Emerald toucanet / Tucancito esmeralda)
Like other toucans, the Emerald toucanet is brightly marked and has a large bill. The adult is 30–35 cm (12–14 in) long. The sexes are alike in appearance, although the female generally is smaller and slightly shorter-billed.

The Emerald toucanet is a generally common in humid forest and woodland, mainly at higher elevations.

This juvenile bald eagle was taken at the Cranberry Marsh Hawk Watch during migration. I happened to be on the beach when it came through and it flew right over my head. Needless to say all the ducks in the marsh took to the air and it was a toss up which I would photograph.

Falco tinnunculus
The chicks fledge gradually when they are around four weeks old. They explore increasing distances from the nest, but return to it to roost for another couple of weeks. Adults continue to feed the young for a month after fledging, during which time they will learn to catch their own food.
In the autumn, kestrels readjust their territories to make best use of winter food supply.

(Columba palumbus) Although the woodpigeons in our garden have built several nests, this is the first youngster we've seen. They are not the prettiest of babies but they are strangely mesmerising......
Well it’s time for the last of the birds to fledge from the nests in my garden. Wood Pigeon (all birds are welcome in my garden).

After flying out, the young song thrushes are fed for a while by their parents with food.
This one probably has to take care of herself by now, but of course she still hopes that the parents will come with food.
This young double-crested cormorant was visiting with an adult, then headed up the lake for a different view.
