Purchased in 2016, as a small bonsai starter. Trained to current style since. The tree was repotted in 2021.
I've had this old shrub for about fifteen years, surviving in less than ideal conditions next to the garden shed. This week, it is one step towards becoming a Bonsai.
It was in the wrong place in the garden, so it came out, got a haircut and went right into a pot. If I haven't killed it yet, I think I will wait until next year before attempting to thin out any more, removing one or both of the large top branches and getting it into a nicer planter.
Apparently, Juniper bonsai are notorious for dying due to over-watering and soil condition among other issues.
June 6, 2022 -- Well, it is dead. Junipers don't like changes. Should have left it by the shed.

A Juniper Shieldbug (Cyphostethus tristriatus). After looking at this shot on the PC, I noticed the white object behind the right eye. I posted the image on iSpot and was advised that it was likely to be an egg of a parasitoid tachinid fly.

I just picked up Juniper (Resinsoul Ju) from scarele!! She's so adorable, and I love her long ears! Can't wait to get her restrung and painted (she's a floppy baby right now)
Finally! After 4 tries, Tom Grey, Vrishali Wagle, and I found the Juniper Titmouse at Red Rock Road near Honey Lake - right at the Nevada border. Continental US lifer 450!
It looks EXACTLY like an Oak Titmouse, but the song is SOOO different.

We are pretty sure this is a Rocky Mountain Juniper (Juniperus scopulorum), a member of the cedar family and sometimes called the Rocky Mountain Cedar. The tree was right in the campsite, identical to one we saw in Massacre Rocks, Idaho. I cannot determine if these berries can be used to make gin (!) but the whole tree was used by many First American tribes for all sorts of medicinal purposes (but maybe not gin ‘cuz they didn’t have bathtubs)? (Hee, hee, groan, sorry! :D)
I was styling photos for work so I popped this little lady in at the end. At least this way I can pretend I still spend time with my dolls. sadness
Not even May 3rd to today the Barberry bush is passing i don't think any flowers will remain by tomorrow so there goes my prime bush that attracts Hymenoptera, now that i have a new camera but at least my Deutzia is nearing flowering and the Spirea still is a moderate attracting bush .
I hope the Scarlet Tanager shows ..but its been a few years last since i had a sighting on the Mulberry .

These furnaces are dotted around Lhasa and are for burning juniper leaves and twigs to give off a nice smell.
