This Palm Warbler in Autumn Plumage was seen over the weekend along the Central Connecticut shore...I took a few shots of it then flew off...It was a very majestic sight!

Bryce National Park, UT.

You could probably tell that I am going through an insatiable binge of re-developing my Southwest pictures in black and white. This one, again from my 2009 Southwest trip, was shot during a daylong hike on a trail in Bryce National Park. For this hike, I packed light with just one lens (18-200 mm) and a polarizer. I shot this at midday and the polarizer helped bring out the dramatic clouds. The midday harsh contrast and tones made this image very striking in B&W. The dead Juniper tree provided a visual interest.

Gatwick Express (Govia Thameslink Railway): the EMU 460 007 (Alstom Juniper 8Gat) passing through Clapham Junction station working a service from London Victoria to Gatwick Airport.

Twisted western juniper snag. Oregon High Desert.

Just caught this shieldbug nymph moulting from 4th to final instar. Missed the beginning unfortunately... thought better to do a collage as easier to see the changes like that, and extra pics in comments are useless!

Starts top left to right, then middle left to right, then bottom left to right! :-) Was lucky as just after he'd finished, the heavens opened!!

Upton Magna - Shropshire

Piece is more than half finished. I'm at the point where I'm figuring out how to mount/display the piece. There will be a forged copper rod attaching it to the rock below. Getting the precise pitch and angle of the piece is very critical before drilling the holes that will connect wood and rock. This was carved from juniper, one of my favorite conifer woods to work with. The wood is very aeromatic, with a wonderful scent.

Florida has two popular Juniper Creeks, both very worthwhile. The one in Blackwater River State Forest make for a nice hike any time of year.

Juniper Hairstreak, Callophrys gryneus, basking on an oak leaf. It was also feeding on sweet secretions from galls on the oak. JE Canyon Ranch, Las Animas County, Colorado. September 10, 2019.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - A tough juniper tree grows at the end of Dead Horse Point. This mesa is surrounded by sheer cliffs and connected to the main plateau by a narrow 30 yard neck of land. The first light of the day was reaching the Colorado River 2,000 feet below.

Badlands Wilderness

Oregon

Our juniper trees - Juniperus ashei - (or cedar trees, as they are called locally) are loaded with berries right now. The "berries" are actually seed cones and are valuable food sources for birds and other Central Texas animals during periods of drought.

A family of four Juniper Titmice were fluttering around in juniper bushes, at least one is an adult and two are juveniles, begging for food and following the adult around to the feeder. This adult is making forays back and forth to a feeder. The Juniper Titmouse is a common inhabitant of the pinon-juniper scrub-lands of the interior west, and are year-round residents of Los Alamos County.
