Just a group shot of some of the JSA members that I have so far. Hoping on expanding the roster as time goes on!

With the passing of the late Darwyn Cooke, I've really wanted to make some kind of tribute to him. He inked a cover of Justice Society of America #54 from 2011. That cover blew my mind the first time I saw it! It has these enormous letters with golden-yellow beams of light shining through them from behind. All while the JSA members are flying into action through the giant initials; JSA!

Darwyn was an incredible artist and a really good person, and it's a real shame he's no longer with us. I talked a bit more about my feelings when he passed over here: flic.kr/p/Gf7BVL

But despite it all, his artwork lives on to inspire me no matter what has happened. ...So this is me giving back to him I guess... if only a little bit.

Rest your soul Mr Cooke, may you be remembered ever fondly.

Sad to say, not all my JSA members made it into this final image. Some honorable mentions include Power Girl, Dr Fate, Mr Terrific, and Hawkgirl. These were mostly due to to the lack of quality elements at the time! Like a decent face printing for Mr Terrific, a good-enough torso for Hawkgirl... etcetera. This photo was taken about a week prior to Christo's Dr Fate being announced and I had no idea he was coming! I sent him an email for a private order yesterday morning and haven't got a response yet. Otherwise I would have saved this for a later date... Here's hoping I get him soon! ;)

But yeah, here's the inspiration for the build, Justice Society of America #54 66.media.tumblr.com/821a46ee97f4f04809c8715a5fdb8c9b/tumb...

Oh and another thing! I've noticed that there isn't a Lego JSA photo group here on flickr, so I felt so inclined to create one! Feel free to join in here if you guys have any good JSA figs or builds you'd like to share! :)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everybody!

2018 has been a crazy year for me! Having to do my best maintaining uploads while waiting on figures throughout the year, while also working two jobs on top of running the Patreon account!

If I thought I didn't have free time before, I'm impressed that I can get anything done at all! :P

Anyway, I'm sure you all remember last year I shared some of my favorite bonus posts from Patreon over the course of 2017. I felt like you all really enjoyed that, so here's only a teeny tiny fraction of what I've shared to Patreon in that time! (Plus a bit from the end of 2017)

If you like what I do, or the art that I put out to the world, I encourage you to join my Patreon page to see 100% of the work I put out there. It takes time and money and sweat and tears and blood (on more occasions than I'd like to admit) :P

If you too would like to be part of the club, be sure to join me over there and you'll get to see all of this stuff (plus more) as it's posted through-out the year! In 2019, I already have new projects scheduled including photoshoots for The Dark Knight Interrogation Room, More Dr Fate, Iron Man and Captain America, New Brickheadz, New Frontier Batman, Shazam etc... and these will be available to you first, plus bonus content for each of those uploads :)

So just think what you're missing out on! Think of what's to come! Help support the content you see here, and join some of our other flickr friends!

Here's a very special thanks and a happy holidays to all of you!

But a truly grateful thank you goes out to JamPotStudios, Phoenix Custom Bricks, Sara Ahh, Fan Xu, Metrix, | Jonathan |, DoctorLate28, ParisCustomBricks, Taylor Mazzone, My Mom, and of course a very special thank you to my first Patron (who's still with me today), Mr Anthony Scott himself! :)

You all do so much and help keep the lights on here in the photography studio. I couldn't have made it as far as I have now without you guys! :)

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to all you champs! See you in 2019! Woo! :D

The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ; Chosŏn'gŭl/Hangul: 한반도 비무장 지대; Hanja: 韓半島非武裝地帶) is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula. It is established by the provisions of the Korean Armistice Agreement to serve as a buffer zone between North Korea and South Korea. The demilitarized zone (DMZ) is a border barrier that divides the Korean Peninsula roughly in half. It was created by agreement between North Korea, the People's Republic of China and the United Nations in 1953. The DMZ is 250 kilometres (160 miles) long, and about 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) wide.

Within the DMZ is a meeting point between the two nations in the small Joint Security Area (JSA) near the western end of the zone, where negotiations take place. There have been various incidents in and around the DMZ, with military and civilian casualties on both sides.

Not much is known about the life of Kent Nelson before he was bonded with the Helmet of Fate - even by Kent himself. His transformations into the Doctor terrified his wife, Inza, and when the goverment agency Checkmate framed the Justice Society of America, he was forced to part with the Helmet, and his mental state deteriorated because of it. He had recovered the Helmet at some point, carrying it around in a bowling ball bag, and was brought back to the JSA brownstone to reuinte with the remaining few members when the son of an old enemy, Icicle, began hunting and killing the rest. Donning the Helmet once more, Kent and Nabu aided in the defeat of Icicle, using his final moments to restore the Martian Manhunter's powers.

Doctor Fate is another figure I tend to avoid, given how specific his helmet is. But, I did do a version once before, and this project required one, so here he is!

Sandman: ij fedora, chitauri head, rebel torso (plans for Simpsons torso)

Power girl: aquaman hair, storm trooper torso

South Korean soldiers at the Joint Security Area (JSA), the 800-meter wide, roughly circular, area bisected by the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) separating South and North Korea. The MDL is marked by the concrete slab running between the two buildings. On the opposite side is the North Korean Panmungak (Panmun Hall). All negotiations since the Armistice of 1953 have taken place here at the JSA. North Koreans and the United Nations Command (primarily South Koreans and Americans) meet face to face in the conference rooms of the Military Armistice Commission (MAC) buildings that are straddling the “border”. Notice how the ROK soldiers hide half their body behind the walls. This gives an impression of the palpable tension, which dictates battle readiness in case bullets start flying. On the day we were there the visit to one of the observation posts near the famous bridge of no return (where prisoners of war were exchanged right after the end of the war) was skipped due to works that made North Koreans edgy…

Every visitor has to sign a form accepting amongst others that "The visit to the Joint Security Area at Panmunjom will entail entry into a hostile area and possibility of injury or death as a direct result of enemy action". There have been more than 750 acts of violence recorded in the JSA, amongst which the famous Axe incident in 1976, when two American soldiers died, and one in 1984 involving a crazed Soviet tourist, Vasily Matuzok, who ran across the MDL from the North shouting that he wanted to defect, causing a fire exchange that claimed the lives of four soldiers, 3 North and 1 South Korean. Hence the JSA tour guides, the US soldiers, are not f***** around and there is a serious rundown of the safety protocols during the prep talk at camp Bonifas, right outside the DMZ. We had to line up as instructed and were allowed to take photos for a few minutes from our position, only towards the North. Still, the JSA receives around 100.000 tourists each year, a surreal experience accessible exclusively via organized tours.

A few years back we were inspired looking through Toyz in the attic's photos of Golden Age heroes and really wanted to build the Justice Society of America.

The first super team! In 1940 the cover of All Star Comics 3 was quite exciting as DC presented together, in the same comic, The Flash! The Green Lantern! The Spectre! Hawkman! Dr. Fate! Hour-Man! Sandman! The Atom!

Rather than true team events, these early outings usually involved the heroes swapping stories of their individual exploits, so each issue was more of an anthology.

Nonetheless, this set the standard for the Justice League of America which, in turn, inspired Stan Lee's Fantastic Four and Avengers.

We have almost reached our goal. We first picked up Dr. Mid-Nite (& Hooty) loose and featured him in chapter 22 of the Paprihaven story. Since then we've picked up what you see here, plus Hawkman and Hawkwoman (whom we didn't want to take down from their ceiling suspension because it's a hassle getting them to hang correctly up there.)

For our JSA build, we're missing Wildcat and Johnny Thunder and his Thunderbolt. Wildcat should come soon as, so far, his prices have been just beyond what we want to pay. So we're waiting until he pops up in our price range.

We are planning a custom Johnny Thunder and Thunderbolt in fully poseable 1:12.

This is a poor-man's JSA build in that the DCUC Dr. Fate goes for almost $200 on card, and almost $100 loose. No way we're paying that so we settled for the DC Direct version which, while not as articulated, does look cooler.

Also the Jay Garrick Flash is available in a DC Signature Series that runs the better part of $100, so we went with DC Direct for him as well.

Of course, we're also going to remove them all from their cards so we can photograph their adventures.

So, what we have at this point, from left to right, Dr. Fate, The Flash, Starman, Hourman, The Spectre, Green Lantern, the Atom. And in the center, Dr. Mid-Nite and the Sandman. And, not in the photo, Hawkman and Hawkwoman.
