We had the most amazing weather and light yesterday while driving home from Edinburgh. The air was crisp and cold, the fields and trees were wearing a silver sprinkle of frost and the sky gave us a lovely, long lasting sunset to go with the seasonal change. What a wonderful day to travel :)

It all began in Japan, the Irish Rail 2800 class for short-haul InterCity and Commuter services, just 10 sets of two car sets, built all the way over in Japan by the Tokyu Car Corporation.

To mark the 175th anniversary of the Inchicore Railway Works, Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail opened the country's largest railway engineering facility to the public for a celebratory open day on Saturday 7th May, 2022.

Various engines, coaches, carriages & workshop maintenance facilities were open to the public offering a rare & unique insight into Irish Rail operations, both past & present.

Flybe has now ceased trading and all flights from and to the UK operated by Flybe have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

FlyBe had 7 active aircraft in its fleet operating to destinations in the UK, Geneva, and Amsterdam.

It's still a London icon in 2023

On the outside, Routemaster bus RML887 (reg. 202 UXJ, ex-WLT 887) was delivered to London Transport in September 1961 & registered as WLT 887. It was still operating for the Go-Ahead Group usually on route 14 and route 22.

In 2023, its still a London icon, now operating the recently introduced Londoner heritage bus tour.

On the inside lane, Routemaster RML 2301, CUV301C, built by AEC Park Royal in 1965 and entered passenger service with London Transport (country area) at Godstone (GD) garage.

In 1993 RML2301 received a new livery of cream and maroon and was taken over by Kentish bus and operated on route 19 out of Battersea garage.

It would then spend time with Arriva operating route 19 (Battersea Bridge to Finsbury Park).

In 2023, its now with Traditional Travel Ltd, Kent who specialise in heritage private hires.

More G1 than Job 3:14

Conyngham Road Enviro400 EV 51 basks in the evening sunshine heading for Red Cow on G1.

As the sun dips low over Dublin City Centre, casting a warm golden glow across the brick facades, the evening stretch begins to unfold. The sky, streaked with hues of orange and pink, signals the end of another bustling day in the capital. There’s a certain magic in this moment—people spilling out of offices and shops, their shadows stretching long on the pavement, eager to hop on the Dublin Bus G1 route heading toward Red Cow Luas via Parkwest Station. The double-decker buses, painted in their iconic green and yellow, rumble gently through the streets, ready to ferry commuters home for a well-deserved rest.

At the bus stop, a lively crowd gathers, chatting and laughing as they wait for their ride. The air is crisp, carrying the faint hum of the city winding down. Among the buses, one stands out with a vibrant ad plastered on its side, spotlighting the latest Mission: Impossible film. “Tom Cruise: The Final Reckoning” it declares in bold letters, promising heart-pounding action in cinemas from May 21. The ad’s bright lights catch the eye, a little beacon of Hollywood glamour amidst the everyday rhythm of Dublin life—a perfect nudge for anyone craving a thrilling night out after a long day.

There’s a comforting rhythm to this scene: the soft clatter of footsteps, the low hum of engines, and the occasional burst of laughter from the crowd. As the sun finally slips below the horizon, the streetlights flicker on, casting a cozy glow over the buses and their passengers. For those aboard the G1, the journey home is more than just a commute—it’s a moment to unwind, reflect, and maybe even plan a trip to the cinema to catch Ethan Hunt’s latest adventure. Dublin at sunset, with its blend of routine and excitement, never fails to charm.

I asked Ini to be the first exhibitor here at The Hall, my new gallery.

It felt right, because besides her being a dear friend, I am a fan of Ini's work and so was Nitro. Ini exhibited more than once at Nitroglobus gallery and last time was 1,5 years ago with 'Long Way Down', mmm again a road/home theme. No idea what it is but .... :-)

Ini's art is always surprising, unique, true and with deep emotions.

This exhibition is about the journey home, whatever and wherever that home is; a real house, or a city, a country, or the end of the line, i.e. death.

We are all always on a journey, coz life is a journey.

So long.....farewell

It's time to fly...

I've made some friends here.....but now it's goodbye!

Cycling home I've seen this flower every day this week and always been in too much of a rush to stop and take a picture...today it had to be...it's Friday and I doubt that the flower will still be there on Monday...moments like this are precious...

From the air .... such an amazing blue. I was really struck by the contrast with the land.

"Where these waters slow their rush

and ease the dragon's fire by draughts

of ice-green melted snow,

where the trickle multiplies a thousand times

In droplets, runlets, rivulets and drains

the mountain's flanks,

where gentling slopes spread out in plains

of coarse-grained sand,

this desert, rich in myth, barren of dreams,

abuts the cliffs which mark its eastern end."

We're getting to the last station in this set, the train station of Barth.

Zingst once had its own train station but the tracks going from Barth to Zingst were dismantled after WW2 (probably taken by the Sowjet Union as war reparations). Nowadays you'll have to take a bus to Barth where you're boarding a train. That train runs all day between the stations of Barth and Velgast. I think this is the only connection Barth station is offering. At Velgast, you can switch connections to long distance trains.

Side note: I think the conjunction of bollards and lamps is one of the highlights human civilization has achieved so far.
