This is probably my best IG shot from the past year. I was standing in front of a hotel downtown, shooting a building across the street and not having much luck. I was about to give up and move on when I happened to look up, and there was this flag right above my head, waving I the breeze with the sun shining through it. Sometimes the best shots turn out to be the ones you weren't looking for...

Rip cards are some of the most sought after cards in Allen & Ginter. They are full size cards that are serial numbered to 250 or less, and contain a rip card exclusive mini card inside of the full size card. You can choose to either leave the card as is, or rip it open to reveal the card inside. 2009 Allen & Ginter's Special Extra Mini’s are only found in rip cards - 50 Exist - #351 to #400.

Joshua Michael Johnson (b. January 31, 1984), nicknamed "JJ", is a Canadian-American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball for the Florida / Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays from 2005 through 2013.

Johnson made his major league debut September 10, 2005, for the Marlins with a scoreless inning of relief against the Philadelphia Phillies. During the 2006 season, Johnson broke onto the Major League scene by going (11–5) as a starter, while tallying a 3.03 ERA in that role. After spending all of April in the Florida bullpen, Johnson emerged as a major contributor in the Marlins' young, but surprisingly successful, starting staff.

Johnson began the 2007 season on the disabled list with an irritated ulnar nerve. After returning in June, he was again sidelined by elbow stiffness in July and had Tommy John ligament-replacement surgery on August 3, 2007. He recovered surprisingly quickly and made his return to the Major Leagues on July 10, 2008, only eleven months after having undergone surgery. He made 14 starts in 2008, posting a 3.61 ERA.

On January 15, 2010 Johnson agreed to a four-year contract with the Marlins worth $39 million. On May 29, 2010, Johnson lost to the Phillies 1–0, as Roy Halladay threw a perfect game.

At the beginning of the 2011 year Johnson kept a no-hitter at least to the fifth inning four out of the first five times he took the mound. The high point being the game against the Atlanta Braves in which Johnson went into the eighth until there was a broken bat single by Braves hitter Freddie Freeman. His 2011-year ended short as he missed the rest of the season due to a right shoulder inflammation.

On November 19, 2012, Johnson was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays along with Mark Buehrle, José Reyes, John Buck, and Emilio Bonifacio, in exchange for Jeff Mathis, Adeiny Hechavarria, Henderson Álvarez, Yunel Escobar, Jake Marisnick, Anthony DeSclafani, and Justin Nicolino.

Johnson earned his first win as a Blue Jay on June 23 against the Baltimore Orioles, which extended the Jays' winning streak to 11 games, tying the franchise record. After earning his first win, Johnson lost 6 consecutive starts, the longest such streak of his career. During his losing streak, his ERA rose from 4.60 to a career-high 6.60. Johnson earned his second win of the season on August 6, against the Seattle Mariners. He was scratched from his scheduled next start on August 12 due to forearm tightness, and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on August 13. Johnson finished the 2013 season on the disabled list, and posted a dismal 2–8 record, a 6.20 earned run average, and 83 strikeouts over 81 1⁄3 innings.

Attempting another comeback from Tommy John surgery, Johnson signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants on November 1, 2016. However, he announced his retirement on January 19, 2017.

MLB statistics:

Win–loss record - 58–45

ERA - 3.40

Strikeouts - 915

Teams:

Florida / Miami Marlins (2005–2012)

Toronto Blue Jays (2013)

Josh Johnson (UMM CSci '13) spent part of this summer going through 31 old UMM CSci computers prepping them for donation to PCs for People. We've talked about doing something like this for several years, but now it's finally going to happen! Thanks to Josh for all his good work.

(In this picture he's actually showing me where a big dead spider feel from it's home up inside a computer that obviously hadn't been used in quite a while.)

Continuing my story from previous images, I was stationed in the National League signing room where I was giving away Dell laptops to the players - an official gift from Dell and MLB.

The signing room starts off as boxes of baseballs and bats that the players sign which are then given to the Commissioner, staff, partners, etc. But as the day progresses, players ask club house attendant to grab some of their jerseys and bats so they too can get autographed memorabilia from the All-Star Game. Eventually, minutes before game time, we had to shut the room down (Albert Pujols starting hitting balls in the cage and it got quite scary).

I was delighted to meet and chat with the players, many lined up in this photos. Some, like Josh Johnson, literally sat down and autographed every single item. And almost all were very thankful for the laptop.
