Brian and Wendy Froud & CCC (Charles Stephan) ~ joint project ~
CCC is very excited and honored ~ Over the Moon ~ actually, about a future joint project. Charles is now working with the World Famous Fantasy artists Brian and Wendy Froud! Wendy is the fabricator of Yoda (Star Wars), Jen and Kira (TDC) and she is a world famous doll artist and writer of fantasy books; Old Oak Wood (Sneezle). Brian Froud is Faery Fantasy Artist #1, famous by his books Faeries, Goblins and ofcourse by his conceptual design work for the iconic fantasy movies The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.
Charles: "Ever since a little boy I have been a huge fan of Brian’s and later also of Wendy’s work, this cooperation really feels like a lifetime dream coming true for me, it’s almost unbelievable. Brian and Wendy have been, and still are, great inspirations for my own work. That is why I believe my daughter’s (Larissa) words as a reaction to this news “Circle of Creation” is so fittingly described”
NB About the ball jointed doll creation the artists are now working on, not much can be shared at this time. However, maybe just one little detail we are willing to share….it will be a magical little creature without a doubt…

A collaboration with my brother, Christopher Kight. He recreated the original pose at Christmas, and I - unable to be there - composited myself in and attempted to recreate the original toning. The light's totally different, but it's still a fun generational study.

Fearless inventor, you have laboured for years to make your nation’s borders from a row of dominoes, your reptile of ivory bricks now a perpetual machine. The borders of our nations will purr like a billion backgammon tables in the final act, then everything kinetic will move in cycles, even love, shaking off spritzes of perspiration. There will be a sour ritual of prayer in the suction of a drain; there will be the limp body of a middle-brother god in every inhalation, but the cold talcum air of places built then forgotten will emerge most sacred of all. I know the ageing circuitry of your heart like my own, so pour what we’ve brewed in the dark and damp galley of our world this rolling ark.
So, this is the eighth photo in the: Shuttertext. It is a collaboration between myself and my bestest friend, Sara. It combines our love for photography, and words. We have just revived the project and thrown it into gear, so if you're so inclined, we'd appreciate it if you checked out our website dedicated to Shuttertext.

These are two photos. The modern photo (on a background) is made by me (in 2008). The old photo (foreground) is made by the Russian photographer Karl Ostwald Bulla (approximately in 1908).
Karl Ostwald Bulla was father of photo-reporting in Russia.

The sixth in the series 'A Couple Of Photos' project by me and Kirsty. These are two photos that we took whilst playing with candles, trying to get pictures of smoketrails after blowing them out... it didn't go too well, but we got some nice photos in the end! (Left is hers, right is mine.)

A section of an American flag made up by the joint efforts of young students from the Millard Public Schools and senior citizens from various Senior Centers around the Omaha area. Each of the 686 hand-painted fabric squares depicts "What America Means to Me".

that my ball-jointed doll creatures are ultimately created as a collaborative project? After I complete the design and sculpt the first prototype in clay, my wonderful casting service does the rest: casting, sanding, stringing all the creature doll parts. No assignment is too difficult for them. They always try to meet my vision and wishes, often with a high-quality and successful end result. As a finishing touch, I usually work together with Murjani Kusumobroto / FairyFragilities who in turn makes beautiful mini doll props and clothing. And Brenda Fishel / ArgenTTo regularly makes the fantastic little hand knits. 💞
