Some absolutely fab conditions up Ben Venue the other morning - it had warmed the night before and the freezing fog overnight made for some great glaze and rime ice sculptures. The whole day was foggy but plenty of folk up and down to chat to.

I'm quite certain that his name was much more Portuguese but I dubbed him 'Jock' in the absence of knowing his real name. :)

Old Jock's Cottage, Fin Glen. This remote ruin was a bit of a surprise discovery, I'd seen it on Google and thought it would be worth exploring; I was well rewarded for my efforts.

One blog post described this as being known locally as Old Jock's cottage, but I've found an 1865 map that shows it as Glenside.

This appears to be the main gateway into a courtyard area, I'm guessing the buildings around the yard would include living, working and storage areas.

The main attraction in this area are the waterfalls of Fin Glen itself, but this farmhouse ruin is very photogenic and (relatively) unspoiled by recent visitors.
