Old houses always have vibes. This one was particularly interesting. It is maintained beautifully, but has some rather strange vibes coming off of it is in an area that could be very busy. It brings nothing to the area because it’s been closed for quite some time.. i’ve always thought when I see really interesting properties if walls could talk, what would they say? This house didn’t seem to be able to share. No one seems to know the story of the closures of every business that has tried to survive in this historic building. The only comments I obtained from a couple of locals is that the place is haunted and very creepy.. one lady shared a worker has been coming and going doing some restoration and his constant companion, a small, mixed breed dog stops, staring at the door, and refuses to go in even though her owner is in there. That is a curious thing. As the little dog is quite adventurous per the lady, and always accompanies him on all jobs . hmmm

The Italian Job is a 1969 British comedy caper film, written by Troy Kennedy Martin, produced by Michael Deeley and directed by Peter Collinson. It tells the story of Charlie Croker (Michael Caine), the leader of a cockney criminal gang released from prison with the intention of doing a "big job" in Italy to steal gold bullion from an armoured security truck.
They used Mini cars like this, one red, one white and one blue. This aging car incorporates all the colours but looks a little sad amongst the discarded items on a farm in the beautiful Danby Dale in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It has though a wonderful view up the dale
Former EL SDP-45 #6687 leads an interesting set of power for "Flare Friday" as she heads a westbound freight over the Vermilion River. Helping out are two ex-PC units, an SD-40 and a U-25B. Given the nice patch job, definitely the right leader in my book.
My co-workers at Winneshiek County Conservation sponsor a fishing derby on Lake Meyer every winter around Valentine's Day. It's meant to be a fun event for the whole family to get outside and try to catch a few fish. They kindly give me - the old timer - a cushy job of official weigh-in captain, so I get to see every big fish that's caught. Here's a nice northern pike that won 1st place in its class.
I heard a distant horn on the morning of Tuesday, July 20th and figured it was the MN&S Job making its way south. I set up here in the central part of St. Louis Park where the track curve through the Library Lane and Lake Street intersection. An old Ford pickup added for a nice photo prop.
If there is one job around the house that I do not mind doing it is peeling garlic. After all, I enjoy it with so many different foods. Just garlic and cheese on bread is a good midnight snack for me. We go through astonishingly large amounts of garlic, at least a dozen balls a week. But most of our meals are eaten in these days. Unfortunately, the price of garlic has quadrupled in the last few weeks. What I like in garlic boils down to two things, purple-colored cloves and large, hard, well-formed cloves. Garlic of this type, pictured here, is usually the hottest as well.

After a slightly late departure out of Brownville Junction, Job 1 is seen just over an hour late charging upgrade at milepost 19, passing the somewhat frozen bog there. A trio of former Canadian Pacific SD40-2Fs, all wearing the colors of their new owner, lead the way, with about fifty cars trailing behind them. A good running time and no switching means that they will arrive in Jackman around 1330, leaving plenty of time for us to chase Job 2 back east.
A dreary December day in rural South Carolina passes by as does the Pickens Railroad Belton Job on its way through the farmlands of Anderson County to interchange with the Grenville and Western Railway in Belton.

Well the friends of the Shakespeare Line have done a wonderful job with the flower beds at Tyseley station, they're a riot of colour. This is about a mile off Route 15 down an unpaved "road" that eventually turns into a dirt two-track. It wasn't that much rougher than the paved Route 15, which made me really glad I opted for the truck and not the car this trip.
Taken on: Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. (1972)
The original image was shot on Kodachrome ll colour slide film (ASA 25), with Nikon F camera, Nikkor 50mm f2.0 lens. The 50 year old slide had collected a lot of dust and dirt as you can see. The note that I wrote on the slide mount is barely readable: 11.30pm, June 21, 1972. Yes, it was the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.
It was during the summer break back in 1972 in my first year of university. I took a train across Canada (Montreal to Vancouver), travelled north to the Northwest Territories, and got a summer labourer job in the capital city.
Yellowknife is situated on the northern shore of the Great Slave Lake, about 400km (250 mi) south of the Arctic Circle.
The sunset picture was taken from the shore of Frame Lake, just behind the City's Hockey Arena and Community Hall. Even after the sun had set, the sky never got dark, and the sun would come back up three hours later. On this day, the City was like no other. It was a time to come out to celebrate. You could go shopping all day. Imagine going fishing at midnight, and hearing the birds chirp and loons call! The highlight of the day, of course, was the midnight Golf Tournament, which teed off at 11.59 pm! Yes, you read it right: 11.59pm.
This image is a 2nd generation copy. I converted the original slide image to digital image using an old 10 megapixel Nikon D200 DSLR, and a 55mm f2.8 manual focus Micro-Nikkor lens mounted on a Nikon bellows and a slide holder.

Calm autumn morning has been interrupted by the loud roaring sound of the MGO diesel engines that happens to belong to the class Dv12 diesel hydraulic locomotive number 2609. 2609 has just brought empty timber wagons for loading at Haapamäki and, as the shunting is finished at the yard, the driver who utilises radio control to drive the locomotive brings the locomotive next to the station to preparing for a return trip to Tampere, as the job is well done.
FEC has at least four yard jobs on the Medley Lead. One of them goes on duty at 12:15 AM and usually handles rock for 202 and coming from 335 and 193. Known as the "Rock job" or simply "The Rock" the 12:15 brings in 53 loads for 202-09 past the Medley Team Track and a westbound Miami Metrorail train for the Palmetto Station. The Titan America facility where a lot of the rock comes from is visible in frame. The Metrorail train pictured was built by Hitachi Rail, also in Medley.
A quartet of Union Railroad MP15's pull into the north end of the Clairton Coke Works plant in Clairton, Pennsylvania. The Job 66 crew has a train of empty CSX coke hoppers in tow which were picked up from CSX and will be loaded here before being taken back for interchange.

Ricky : "Okay Ryan.. These are your sheeps now! You have to take care of them. We all have jobs to do and you have inherited the job of sheep herder!"

Ryan : "Okay.."

Ricky : "You are moving to Idaho on Monday, so you don't have to work here. When you get to Idaho you are going to be a potato farmer!"

Ricky : "You know the guy that tells everyone what to do..? I'm THAT guy!"
Me : "Why am I not surprised.."
Having snapped the approaching Pendolino, a photographer 'stands down' as the train hustles through the station at speed. Fingers crossed he bagged the shot.

Jackpot!! A distorted image, courtesy of my fisheye lens, but it does a nice job of depicting the variety and density of pictographs in this small cave. I used dStretch to highlight the pictos, and then blended with the original so they would stand out a little more. Even so, these pictos are amazingly well preserved and appear to be well hidden and seldom visited. What a treat!

Exeter Central's Dispatcher has just seen off GWR's Sprinter unit 150265 working the 9.55pm to Exeter St Davids (2E57) station, about a half a mile down the hill. The unit had arrived into platform 3 a few minutes earlier from Barnstaple, at which time it became an empty stock working (5E57) as it transferred from platform 3 to platform 2.
With the 9.,55pm terminating at St David's the temptation is to think it will then head for the stabling point for a night's rest. Apparently not - it then becomes the 10.31pm to Exmouth (2F51), so once again passing through Central station.
There's still a couple of hours of work left for the Dispatcher too - the last scheduled train on this day is the late evening Waterloo - Exeter St David's, due off at 11.58pm. With luck it will be 'locked doors' around midnight!

This would have been a rare switching job for LPA55 at Elementis to deliver a single loaded tank car.
This was the only time I saw UP actually pull a pair (typically just 1 unit) of leaser GP38s back into there for delivery of a loaded car. Not long after this, most of the busiest leaders would take off out of Butler in the following year or so.

The high-seniority crew of the Camden Job works Alliance Steel on the Camden Branch. This humble branch once served as the SOO's connection to Union Station, the Milwaukee Road, and other area railroads. When this photo was taken in 2010, the job ran weekdays out of Humbolt, and often ran with SOO power. Nowadays, the branch is switched every third day with rumors circulating about several key customers relocating or closing.
