"You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." ~C.S. Lewis

No one knows the future that, like this photo is always a bit 'out of focus'. But we do know the present and can start shaping the future by the decisions made today.

“Through the Briars”

Judy Royal Glenn Photography

Sometimes we walk through circumstances when we are jabbed from all directions. It’s like walking through a briar patch. We can’t see clearly where we are headed or how things will work out. Somehow, we found our way into the middle of the patch.

But, do you know who can see clearly? The Lord. He has mapped out the path. We just have to take one step at a time.

The Lord is omnipotent and is looking from above. He can clearly see the way out.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105

Are you in a briar patch? I am. But I know the Lord is right by my side.

Praying for those in the path of Hurricane Sandy.

wherever God has planted you simply believe and be fruitful

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)

For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

1 Timothy 4:10 (NKJV)

Jeremiah 29The Voice (VOICE)

29 The prophet Jeremiah wrote a letter from Jerusalem to the elders, priests, prophets, and all the rest who had been taken to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. 2 (This was after King Jeconiah of Judah and his mother had been taken into exile, along with servants of the court, officials of Judah and Jerusalem, and many of the craftsmen and artisans.)[a] 3 The letter was hand-carried by Elasah (son of Shaphan) and Gemariah (son of Hilkiah), whom Zedekiah king of Judah dispatched to Babylon on a diplomatic mission to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

Jeremiah’s Letter: 4 This is what the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies and God of Israel, says to those He exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 “Build houses—make homes for your families because you are not coming back to Judah anytime soon. Plant gardens, and eat the food you grow there. 6 Marry and have children; find wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, so that they can have children. During these years of captivity, let your families grow and not die out. 7 Pursue the peace and welfare of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to Me, the Eternal, for Babylon because if it has peace, you will live in peace.”

8 This is what the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies and God of Israel, says to you: “Do not be fooled by the false prophets and fortune-tellers among you. Do not listen to dreamers or their interpretations of dreams, 9 for I did not send them to you. They are prophesying lies in My name!” So says the Eternal. 10 If you want the truth, this is what the Eternal has to say: “You will remain in Babylon for 70 years. When that time is over, I will come to you, and I will keep My promise of bringing you back home. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Eternal, “plans for peace, not evil, to give you a future and hope—never forget that. 12 At that time, you will call out for Me, and I will hear. You will pray, and I will listen. 13 You will look for Me intently, and you will find Me. 14 Yes, I will be found by you,” says the Eternal, “and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations where you’ve been scattered—all the places where I have driven you. I will bring you back to the land that is your rightful home.”

Jeremiah 29:11 is my life verse. There have been times where I don't know what's happening and I don't know what to do and I turn to this verse. God has those plans for us and He has us in His hands. We don't have to worry, despite the turmoil going through our lives.

It's definitely a resting place for me.

Hey, this was explored! Thanks All!

"I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for." Jeremiah 29:10-11

For my dear Flickr friend 001FJ.

Remain faithful in all things and rely on the Lord to guide you through each day, each hour, each minute. Blessings yet untold and too great to imagine are coming to you, as surely as the Lord lives.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE AND A FUTURE".

When was the last time you walked outside after a storm and not worried if your shoes got wet?

Needless to say this has been a hard week for me (like what week isn’t); but I was reminded by my beautiful wife that I can not continue to carry my burden on my own… that I need to rely on Him. Men, this is the reason why God gave you a wife… so listen to her. Then I walked outside today after a storm and I took my camera. As I looked around I was completely humbled buy the Grandness of our God. As I looked around I could see the very fingerprint of God in every raindrop.

As I took pictures; I reflected on my own walk with Him and saw what I needed to adjust in my life and I remembered the words of Jesus, “He who has ears, let him hear”. I think that if he where speaking to a photographer he would say, “He who has Eyes, let him See”. Its true what His word says …

Psalm 139:14

… I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

It’s completely unfathomable that we, the human race, elevate ourselves to the very level of God and pretend we do not need him, that we are in control of everything, and even to the extent that he doesn’t really exist. Then everything around use fails and we wonder why. Here is what the good word says …

Jeremiah 29:11-12

11: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

12: Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.

Go walk around after a storm and take a look at a flower or two and see how they almost “Smile”. How they praise His name and glow with the Love of God and remember that it was YOU that was created in His own image. That it was YOU he died for and its YOU that he wants to shower His love on when you face a storms.

Don’t worry about the shoes… its not like anyone has to twist your arm into buying new ones.

Cross stitch by Mrs. Ducke..

On this Sunday where everyone throughout the country will come together to watch a single football game, let us all not forget what our Sunday's should be about. God's Word, the Bible, describes how He created the heavens and earth, the land and the water, all the animals everywhere, and even mankind, but on the seventh day...He rested. Over time, His day of rest has become our day to gather corporately and worship Him. While I love football and can't wait to see the Super Bowl, I love my God even more and want us all to remember what this day should be about!!

This was taken at church this morning and the Bible is turned to Jeremiah 29 which is where my favorite verse can be found. It is the one at the bottom of all my posts...

Three bracketed photos were taken and combined with Photomatix to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS5.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11

I could not pass up this sunrise on the way to work one morning. I've had a really tough few weeks at work and this was one of those moments where I felt God saying, "Don't worry about it...I've got everything under control and I've got a plan!" Sometimes God just needs to pass that reassurance along in a way that only He can...

Because of the story above and Jeremiah 29:11 being my favorite Bible verse, I decided to include it on this photo. It says: "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

However, I believe that you should continue reading through verse 14 to get the full intent of God's plan..."Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

everyone gets to choose every day. i actually love that my faith is my choice. this faith has grown stronger in the past 7 years because of my involvement in the lives of women and children in crisis. i could not teach and encourage these beautiful women every week if i did not believe with my whole heart that what i share with them is true and vital to living life to the full and overflowing.

recently, the girly-girls were challenged to "tell their story" on a poster. the "then" and "now". each made her own poster and chose the words for her story.

this is katie's story. a beautiful young woman in her early 30's. she comes from a good home with a lot of love. she lost her way during the breakup of her marriage. she was down for the count. thank GOD she is on her way back to life.

in my opinion, there is nothing more powerful than such a story of real redemption. God's love has the power to transform our hearts. I believe that - and I can only say that I want everyone in the world to open their hearts to the amazing, powerful love of God.

this may not get many fav's but i hope you will stop to say "yay!!" for katie. there are endless katie's in this world. i'm so thankful that God placed me in the path of katie's life. i get to see this pivotal time of moving forward with hopeful expectation of a bright future ... to see her mourning turned to dancing; her sorrow into joy. what a celebration - right here, right now!!

i'm so grateful to be a part of your lives. wonderful girly-girls. precious women.

you are on a new path. you are on a road of recovery. you are striving. you are reaching. you are crying. you are laughing. you are remembering. you are forgetting. you are afraid. you are brave. doubt overtakes you. you believe. you want to throw in the towel. you finally see. you are in darkness. you pray. you say nothing. you sing for joy. you weep in despair. you get up. you fall down. you move forward. you lose your way. you are changing. you fear things will never change. you believe all things are possible. you believe nothing is possible. you accept God's grace. you are weighed down with shame. you forgive yourself. you blame yourself. you trust. you distrust. you open up. you shut down. hope rises. hope falls. you hold on. you let go. one moment at a time. one step at a time. one day at a time. oh, to see the light come on in your eyes. oh, just to see you smile. to hear you laugh. to share hugs. to hear you sing and rejoice. to hear your words that are so powerful. to understand that your journey has been so painful. to cheer you on to a future that is bright. to see you walking in the truth and in the light. oh, i am so grateful for you. i believe in you. i thank God for you. you are more beautiful to me than i can say. being in your lives has forever changed my life.

all of the words are my feeble attempt to express some of the ups and downs and challenges of change. change is hard under the best of circumstances. it can be more so when living in a shelter. this is an amazing shelter, however. a home. full of love. a sanctuary. no longer living on the streets. this is a chance for change. there are not enough such caring communities - places for women to heal and recover. to be safe. to be loved. to stand again. to move forward.

For I know the plans I have for you...plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Revelation 21:4 - "He will wipe every tear from teir eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."

Scripture reference: Jeremiah 29:11. This is #4 in the new “What Are You A Fan Of?” series created by Deb. It was part of an “Art Offering” shown during our Worship Service on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She created this set of fun & inspiring artwork for our church’s 12th Anniversary Celebration.

she has been through so much in her young years.

tonight she is in recovery. she is in a safe place.

she is ready to share her story.

those in the room listen intently. tearfully. prayerfully. hopefully.

it is her pain. it is her abuse. it is her addiction.

is is her crazy family environment. it is her abuser boyfriend.

it is her fear. it is her heartache. it is her despair.

it is her choices. it is not her choices, at times.

and yet, it is her consequences.

it is her past. it is her life.

but before she ends, there is a page that does not read the same.

something has changed. the words are wrapped in hope. there is

an unmistakable lift to the story. hope is rising. she is rising.

above her past. above her pain. she steps into a brighter future.

not just another thursday night in my life.

a thursday night full of purpose as i sit in

the classroom of real life. the hope is real.

the investment is real. the rewards are

beyond measure as she lifts her head,

as the light returns to her eyes, as she

embraces hope for her tomorrows.

listen to someone's story ... help them

gather hope for the journey ...

my new desktop background for my computer. and of course, my favorite verse of all time. what an amazing promise God gives us in this scripture!

Jeremiah 29:11 (New Living Translation)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Mehdi Dibaj:

Truly, living with God is glorious.

The darker the night, the closer the dawn. The darker the clouds, the more plentiful the life-giving rains. The narrower the way, the more God’s unlimited help!

The greater the troubles, the more the comforts from God. Though the waves of the sea get higher, this can never disturb the calm of the depths!

Though the storm be violent, it cannot displace the mountain. Those who trust in the Lord are like mountains that cannot be shaken.

The person who lives in the shadow of the Almighty will never be disturbed by the heat.

Part of a series for Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. These are the first processed pics from my brand new 5d Mark ii and so far I'm very impressed with the results!

From photograph standards, this isn't very good. Taken from my living room window with 2 of the 5 children in the room hanging on me, I was amazed it was as good as it is. This was taken yesterday, Sept. 6th. Yesterday, Thursday, in my world was an interesting day to say the least. The hallway door was wide open late morning when a sudden wind came though- it slammed the door shut and startled 2 of the 3 children left in the house. When it did, we all looked out the window and I noticed a group of leaves from one particular tree down the street fly off the tree, dance in the air and eventually, land on the ground. "Change is in the air" I thought to myself.

Missing my oldest one back at school and already clinging to memories of summer beach days passed, I also discovered over the last few days that a friend isn't who I thought she was. I have traveled that road far too many times in my life and the revelation doesn't get easier each time.

In the late afternoon, after the big kids came home from school, after snacks and during a game of indoor tag, it started to rain. The the sun started to shine while it was raining and once again, there it was in the sky. My favorite reminder that no matter what happens in this life, His promise to bring me safely home with Him is never ending. All I have to do is believe. One of my day care kids asked me, "Paula, how are rainbows made again? It's the sun that makes them right?" With hope in my heart and conviction in my voice I answered, "Nope, God makes rainbows- His first of many promises to us." Jeremiah 29:11 "Behold the plans I have for you.." declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
