The Angel Glacier flows down the north face of Mount Edith Cavell in Jasper National Park, Canada. It was much larger when it was named in the 19th-century, but as with most glaciers worldwide, it is melting rapidly. More likely the glacier will eventually disappear from the face of Mount Edith Cavell.

Maligne Lake, Jasper National Park, Canadian Rockies - Although called 'Spirit Island' it's not an island - Named as a Spiritual Place, by the First Nation's People of Canada. Only easily visited via the Maligne Lake Cruise boats.
Just couldn't decide which one to post for Sliders Sunday so here are all three versions. Haven't done an invert in a while.

Pyramid Island is a small, highly scenic island located in Pyramid Lake, within Jasper National Park (Canadian Rockies, Alberta). It is one of the most photographed spots in the area due to its spectacular views.
Iconic Views: The island offers the best vantage point for admiring the emblematic Pyramid Mountain, which rises majestically over the lake.
Accessibility: It is connected to the shore by a picturesque wooden pedestrian bridge, making it easily accessible to everyone.
Highlights: Besides being a popular location for photography (especially during sunrise and sunset), the island features a rustic 1933 shelter, perfect for picnics. The lake is popular for canoeing in the summer and ice skating in the winter.
Location: It is very close to the town of Jasper, making it an essential and accessible stop for travelers exploring the Canadian Rockies.
The hike starts at Portal Creek Trail, and that means you need to walk for 20 Km …, yes, it is a long hike! Take some food , water, clothes, and camera gear, of course… And it is up the hill. Steady up the hill….
While looking for the staff at trailhead, we saw the stable, from where you could take a horse trip to the lodge, but we could not find anyone there, just horses.
Returning back to the car we encounter a black bear, frequently visiting this area. It was sudden and unexpected by us encounter. Just around the corner!
The bear stood up trying to get the scent of us. We quickly decided to reverse back to the horses. The bear continued to follow us. Oh my God! This is not good! I have read many stories that if a bear continuous to follow you and it is not scared of you, he wants to eat you. We continued going back, back to where we saw the horses, about 100 meters from the road. The bear continued to follow us. It was not good. The blood pressure rises in your veins, brain stops working, and you try to find the way to escape… We decided to jump into the horse pan and hide behind the horses, thinking of that it is better to be together with them than alone. The horses reacted very strongly, gathering in the corner of the pan, where the bear was coming from, making a big noise. We saw a black bear going on the path, towards us, eventually passing us, and at the end, behind the bear, there was an oriental guy, chasing the bear, just to take a few snaps with his tiny digital camera…. Ha, ha, ha...
So, we started hiking in, and in about one hour from the start, we met the lodge staff going in on the horses. Met the friendly staff! Sara and Kable Kongsrud.
Stay tuned for more!
Thanks for your visits, favs and comments. As always, appreciated very much!

After the gorge, off to the right, the river spreads way out and gets quite calm as it continues North toward the town of Jasper.

Maligne Lake is the longest and deepest natural lake in Jasper National Park (Alberta, Canada), renowned worldwide for its glacier-fed blue waters, surrounded by towering peaks, three visible glaciers, and abundant wildlife.
Spirit Island: This is the lake's most famous feature and one of the most photographed landscapes in all of Canada. This small, picturesque peninsula (which sometimes appears as an island) is exclusively reachable via the scenic boat cruises or by canoe/kayak.
Origin: The lake, which is approximately 22 km (14 mi) long, is fed by glaciers and drains into the Maligne River. It was made known to non-Indigenous explorers in the early 20th century, with the help of Indigenous leader Samson Beaver, who knew it as Chaba Imne.
Activities: Besides the cruise to Spirit Island, the lake is popular for renting canoes or kayaks, fishing, and hiking, including the starting point of the renowned Skyline Trail.

Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel
Jasper National Park, Alberta
Known to steal the hearts of many campers throughout the western US and north into the Canadian Rockies, this ground squirrel will even smile if it thinks you’re going to feed it. Realizing I wasn’t going to do so, it lost interest in me and stopped posing.

At Jasper Lake, Jasper NP, Canadian Rockies, Alberta
An upload, taken a long time ago with a simple point and schoot camera. I would like to take all my pictures from that Canada trip again, with the equipment I use today and the knowledge I have now.
I remember the weather was really bad that day: pouring rain for hours...; This was taken in one of the rare dry moments.
