Amazingly colourful, there are but five species of tody -- all found only in the Caribbean area. We saw this highlight of our trip to Jamaica in Cockpit Country near Stewart Town.

We hit quite a storm before arriving in Jamaica. Bob woke Rita saying, "Wake up, I think we're going down!"
P4300030. Photo: Samsara Hotel. Jamaica Vacation: Matt & I spend 1 week in Negril, on the West coast of Jamaica to attend Jason & Shana's wedding. The first half of the week we stayed on our own on the cliffs at Samsara and the 2nd half we moved to Nirvana on the Beach to join the wedding party. Daily we ate amazing homecooked food, took dips in the ocean, and saw amazing sunsets. The locals never left us alone, even when we though we outwitted them by renting bikes, so we could just bike away, but instead the locals on bikes followed us instead. The wedding was nice simply ceremony on the beach at sunset.
This Jamaican Spindalis was in the hills of Cockpit Country, an area in the west-central part of the island. The species is found only in Jamaica, and was formerly called the Jamaican Stripe-headed Tanager. Such striking colours!

This musician was part of a five person band playing near the village of Nine Mile in Jamaica. It was a nice, little amphitheater where you could sit on picnic tables and listen to the music.
