For most travellers to Far-West Tibet (Ngari) in Purang county, the prime focus of their journey is the sacred peak of Mount Kailash (6714 m), Tibetan name is Gang Ti Se. This extraordinary mountain is regarded as the `heart of the world`, the àxis mundi`,the centre of Asia, by Buddhists, Hindus, Jains and followers of other spiritual traditions. Of all the special destinations for the traveller to reach, Mount Kailash is surely one of the most sublime and sacred. Its geographical position as the watershed of South Asia is unique and it is this which gives it a cosmic geomantic power. From its slopes flow four great rivers in the four cardinal directions - the Senge Tsangpo སེང་གཙང་པོ་ (Indus River) north, the Yarlung Tsangpo ཡར་ཀླུངས་གཙང་པོ་ (Brahmaputra) east, Karnali south into the Ganges གང་ག་, and the Langchen Tsangpo གཙང་པོ་ ( Sutlej River) west.
Mount Kailash itself is known in the Tibetan language as Gang Ti-se and informally as Gang Rinpoche ("Precious Snow Mountain"), to the Bon as Yungdrung Gutsek ("Nine stacked Svastikas").

Ranakpur, a small town in the Aravâvalli mountain range, is one of the 5 major pilgrimage sites in Jainism. Jainism is one of the three major religions of India, alongside Buddhism and Hinduism, and with whom they share the same goal, to free the human being from the infinite cycle of reincarnations (samsâra).
Jainism is an ancient religion from India that teaches that the way to liberation and bliss is to live lives of harmlessness and renunciation.
The essence of Jainism is concern for the welfare of every being in the universe and for the health of the universe itself.
The Palitana temples of Jainism are located on Shatrunjaya by the city of Palitana in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, India. The city of the same name, known previously as Padliptapur, has been nicknamed "City of Temples". Along with Shikharji in the state of Jharkhand, the two sites are considered the holiest of all pilgrimage places by the Jain community. As the temple-city was built to be an abode for the divine, no one is allowed to stay overnight, including the priests. Every Jain believes that a visit to this group of temples is essential as a once in a life time chance to achieve nirvana or salvation.
This site on Shatrunjaya hill is considered sacred by Jains and have hundreds of temples. There are approximately 863 marble-carved temples on the hills. The main temple is reached by stepping up 3500 steps. It is said that 23 tirthankaras (a human being who helps in achieving liberation and enlightenment), except Neminatha (a liberated soul which has destroyed all of its karma), sanctified the hill by their visits. The main temple is dedicated to Rishabha, the first tirthankara; it is the holiest shrine for the Svetambara Murtipujaka sect.
Also known as Chaturmukha Dharana Vihara, this temple was built in the 15th century and is considered one of the most beautiful temples in India. It is all hand carved out of mostly white marble. The interior has over 1,000 columns many of which are elaborately carved. This was actually constructed more as a meditation retreat for the Jain priests than a temple. Jainism is one of the four main dharmic religions which includes Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism.

Tourist surrounding the centrepiece of a marble elephant statue inside the Ranakpur Jain temple. The unique temple is a timeless piece of art and a human architectural achievement. Built and carved entirely from white marbles, each piece of its building blocks from the 1,444 pillars right to the top ceilings, are all carved with great & interesting details. indeed an unique and worth-while visit for me. The shape of columns will present different looks of shades at different time of the day.
