I took this panorama from the Jackson Lake Overlook close to the top of Signal Mountain at Grand Teton National Park. Even though at first glance it might look like a day photo, it is actually taken at night but the mountains and the lake below were being illuminated by the moon that had just risen behind me.
Looking down Jackson Street at the SF-Oakland Bay Bridge, the colors of Chinatown on full display. I've spent many a day roaming the streets in the City, and never tire of the endless urban landscapes that present themselves to my lens. It's like shooting ducks in a barrel.

With a perfectly forecasted day of clouds and cool weather on Saturday I couldn't resist getting out and doing some waterfalling. I'd been wanting to revisit McCammon Falls in Jackson County, Kentucky in good conditions for some time. It had been 4 years since I had spent some quality time with this waterfall, which also happened to be my first visit. Although I had been here two more times after that both those visits were of the extreme, once with no water and the other there was way too much water. On this latest visit I couldn't have asked for better flow. See that tree on the left? I hate that tree. In the case of this shot I thought it fit the composition well, but to get straight on shots of the falls showing both tiers is quite the challenge since the dead limbs protrude across the view of the waterfall. I've been threatening to bring an extendable saw and trimming the limbs off for some time now but on this latest trip I wasn't in the mood to fight a 6 ft tall pole with a sharp blade on the end in the vehicle all day long. Some day though, I'm going to clean that view up.

Ok, the story:
I arrived in Jackson, Mi a little too early for a job. I had been watching the eastern sky and the roads leading back into the farm fields. I found one and drove to the end where a barking St. Bernard greeted me. I rolled down the window and we made friends. He was running around loose and the back door to a nearby house was wide open. I walked around to the front of the house and rang the doorbell until someone answered. I explained to the lady that I had assumed that her dog had escaped and that I just wanted to make sure she knew he was running around. ( I really had to pee, btw). She brought the dog inside and I went off to snap some photos.
I was upset, since the original light had changed during the time I was fooling around with the dog and I now really really had to pee. I snapped about 20 rushed photos and then bolted for the nearest gas station. I figured that most of them would be blah...but then I found this one that captured the sparkles and warm light on the snow exactly the way I wanted.

Every city has a certain spot where photographers flock to capture the skyline with trailing lights. Have been wanting to get this capture for over a year now and finally made it. In all the excitement, forgot to change setting to RAW and landed up shooting in JPG. Not bad for a first try.
Just looking through some older photos this morning (something I really have no time for at the moment), and ran across this shot of sunset at Jackson Lake in the Grand Tetons. I remember this place very fondly, and even though the Tetons didn't exactly cooperate during most of our visit, this night they did.

I actually dont have any of he Monster high Boys, I once had Deuce but he was too sexy to stay (After I gave him a beautiful New hairdo)
So I was excited to actually LOVE this MH Boy! And I think Kohl was even more Excited then me, he very much Missed the Piggybacks he would get from Deuce :P

BBMaui, Kula, Maui, Hawaii. Male Jackson's Chameleon sunning himself. These are cold blooded animals, and time to time they find a sunny spot, flatten themselves like a pancake, and take a position to receive maximum sun exposure to warm up. He is blowing up his neck which means he is either getting ready to hunt an insect with his extremely long and agile tongue or he is disturbed by my attention. We know it is a "he" because only males have the three horns. Shortly after I took this picture he went under the bush to hide, and I was sorry to disturb his sunning and hunt. Taken at my backyard in Kula.

This hand-held shot benefited from combining light from the visible and infrared spectrum. My camera has been adapted to be sensitive to both types of light; filters are used to limit the image to either infrared or visible light. In this case, I left all filters off to pick up a little more light and ended up with an interesting look.

This is a well used walking and bike path atop a levee along the Snake River. The autumn colors are well past their prime, but still provide a touch of color. Forest fire smoke has temporarily moved up the valley allowing a view of the Grand Teton.
The shadows transform the asphalt path into an interesting leading line.
The Pontalba Buildings on Jackson Square in New Orleans, which were built in the 1840s and contain some of the oldest continuously-rented apartments in the US. We did a cocktail tour, and our guide walked us by here. He said the rents here were only about $1,500 a month. Which seems like a steal until you realize the buildings have old plumbing, no insulation and no parking. Plus you get to hear all the music and commotion from all the drunk tourists and bachelorette parties going on all day. But I don't know, $1,500 sounds like a good deal. I used to pay $700 for a one bedroom apartment in North Little Rock that also had unreliable plumbing, weird neighbors and awful parking.
