For Macro Mondays of 17th April, theme Seeds (NO DANDELIONS!) . I wanted to use a seed currently in our garden, found next to the dandelion seeds (LOL) that the ivy seeds are turning lovely dark. Fits well with a light background.

Very small ivy leaves and moss (Entodon seductrix, known as the seductive entodon moss) growing near the base of an old oak

Mother Nature outdoes herself decorating this window which is almost enveloped with ivy and other greenery. Seen in Lacock village, Wiltshire, UK.

A tree well encased in Ivy where ultimately the weight of the Ivy will break some branches as has happened in the past.

There is a distance view of Spaunton village to the right on the horizon in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park from Bottomsfield Lane. Part of a walk from Appleton le Moors to Hutton le Hole.

I was looking in the front window, while simultaneously looking out the rear window. The reflections were somewhere in the middle, seemingly real, but really only an illusion. However, that Ivy was as real as it gets.

Happy Window Wednesday everyone.

Oh, a dainty plant is the Ivy green,

That creepeth o’er ruins old!

...

Creeping where no life is seen,

A rare old plant is the Ivy green.

Ivy is a delight for wood pigeons, thrushes and other birds. The plant is evergreen and therefore offers a nice shelter and nesting place all year round. The black berries in spherical bunches appear around October, but are apparently only tasty for the birds in late winter and early spring; they stay on the bush for a long time. This way the birds still have something to eat at the end of winter Leave the berries to the birds, they are slightly poisonous to us.

Another in the Ivy Crag series. A trip up in the dark with a headtorch to reach this spot for sunrise. Unfortunately the cloud cover stopped most of the sunrise apart from the occasional touch of colour in the clouds.

Happy Macro Monday!

I took this photo in the little village of Meiford in Powys, Mid Wales. It really stood out with the colourful Ivy...

How this mini snapdragon finds enough to live off in a wall I have no idea. For Looking Close on... Friday! I had hoped to find a plant in a really weird place but was not lucky - will probably find one tomorrow!

Ivy turning the colours of Autumn on a building in Prague.

The berries on ivy plants of all kinds are best avoided, whether English creepers, Boston ivy, evergreen climbers, or poison ivy. The berries are poisonous , although because they taste so bitter, it's rare that a person ingests enough to become poisoned...
