Although blastocyst embryo transfer increases your chance of getting pregnant, it also increases the risk of multiple births. It is more difficult for an embryo to develop into a blastocyst. Therefore, there is the possibility that an IVF cycle will not result in a transfer of any embryos if none of the three day old embryos develop into blastocysts.https://indiraivf.wordpress.com/category/blastocyst-embryo-implant

There is a chance that you may have some blastocysts (advanced five to six day embryos) available for freezing (using a process called vitrification) after you have had your best embryo (s) transferred. Freezing and warming can cause damage to the cells of blastocysts, particularly those which are not good quality.http://www.indiraivf.com

Until recently, successfully culturing embryos to the blastocyst stage was difficult. This term describes the process when the embryos grow for longer in the laboratory, and undergo critical developmental changes before being returned to the womb.https://indiraivf.wordpress.com/category/blastocyst-embryo-implant

Otherwise normal IVF is recommended. Whether day 5 or 6 transfer is recommended for you, it is a decision made by the experienced and expert clinical and laboratory teams aligned to give you the best individualized advice for a safe and successful outcome.https://indiraivf.wordpress.com/category/blastocyst-embryo-implant

Blastocyst embryo transfer (BET) is a new assisted reproductive technology that has been incorporated with in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment to increase pregnancy rates while simultaneously decreasing the risk of multiple pregnancies. In vitro fertilisation usually involves the transfer of embryos two to three days after they have been successfully fertilised.http://www.indiraivf.com

In this field of medicine, continued refinements and change offer greater opportunity for infertile couples. Blastocyst culture is one important step and one at which specialists at Indira Infertility Clinic has expertise. www.indiraivf.com

Myth: One IVF failure closes your chances of success forever.

Facts: absolutely not.

If a couple has a failed IVF cycle for any reason, this does not mean that there is no hope of a pregnancy. It is important to understand why it happened and modify the treatment accordingly to achieve success in future cycles. There have been many cases where patients have conceived after 4-5 IVF cycles when they were supplemented with recommended procedures like laser-assisted hatching, microfluidics, pre-implantation genetic testing or injecting platelet-rich plasma into the uterine cavity or even supplementing the diet with antioxidants etc. as the case may require.

How are Embryos Thawed and Used?

The process for thawing an embryo is involves removing the individual blastocyst from liquid nitrogen and replacing the cryoprotectant with water. This takes about 10 to 15 minutes in which the embryos frozen at -196 deg Celsius are brought to room temperature.

Subsequently, 3 to 4 hours are required for the embryos to expand to their original size and shape, after which they are ready to be transferred.

This is a critical process and requires expert handling by a well-trained team led by the embryologist.

The doctor will undertake a baseline check of your uterine lining at the start of the cycle and check it again a few days before transfer to ensure it is in optimum condition. The actual embryo transfer procedure on the day then replicates a fresh transfer and generally does not require sedation or medication. However, some women may require to have this done under sedation or anaesthesia.

Will My Embryos Frozen During IVF Not Age?

No, Don't Worry They Will Not Age.

For example, if you freeze an embryo at the age of 30 and decide to thaw and use it at age 35, the cell structure and quality of the embryos remains as it was when they were 30 years old.

However, a good freezing and thawing process by experts is a pre-requisite to ensure this.

Our embryologist at PWH has undergone a 2 year Masters course in Embryology at the University of Leeds, UK.

Our IVF Lab is equipped with the requisite types of incubators and nutrient media required to achieve excellent embryo growth.

Do You Know?

Why not Transfer all Embryos?

The National ART regulation act passed by the Govt of India does not permit transfer of more than 2 embryos at a time.

Transferring multiple good-quality embryos at once can result in two or more implanting and hence multiple pregnancies, which places the mother and baby at a significantly greater risk. The standard now is to transfer not more than two embryos.

Additional good quality embryos are an asset and their cryo-freezing to preserve them is recommended, so that in the event of the failure of the first transfer cycle, one or two of these can be transferred in a subsequent cycle to enable pregnancy without having to subject the patient to another stimulation cycle.
