It's been so long since I've worked in color...

we live in a beautiful world, we just need to see it.

Rabooka plays with my camera. My head shakes at the thought of being photographed in a bib that states my true nature. :)

some mornings start off in a weird way.

I wish I could deny it but I cant...my mind is programmed to forget...forget people, places, things, memories...and not just the bad ones...its sad sometimes but most of the times it keeps me sane...I wish I could deny it, but I do find life easier without those missing pieces...pieces of me.

We just have to know how to pick ourselves back up.

p.s. and Superman can't have miscarriages. He's a dude.

(ah. look. my sense of humor is intact.)

Ever since Kasia & Cristina's flickr_wedding, I've wondered about life at their house. I imagine this is dinner on some nights...

I think this is the same guy in the Geico advertisement...

You had to actually be there to see what the title of this photo describes. But trust me, that bee is entering that pipe on this very moldy rock wall.

Best viewed at least large, if you want any sort of chance of being able to see that bee I was referring to above.

it's a long way up to the third floor.

We had a quick doctor's appointment today. Every time I visit, I'm reminded of our newborn visits. And then I look over at my boy-sized baby and I get sappy.

He was so little. He fit on my lap. He couldn't talk. He nursed through the pain of a shot. He mocked me and didn't cry when I was swearing to them, "All he does is cry. What's wrong?"

I think I'll stay with this doctor until he's 18 only to savor those memories.

Well, it was a rather large conifer...

I really likes these works, Xenz is known as the ‘Monet of graffiti’, he demonstrates an almost eidetic ability, so extraordinary is the cohesion between his mind, memory and spray can. His innovations in the study of aerosol art allow this influential artist to walk up to a wall or canvas and paint an epic landscape from his imagination. Combining futuristic fantasy with strong architectural and soft natural dreamscapes, the graffiti scion uses the spray can to capture fragments of memory and ever-changing subject matter, often drawn from the natural world.

Seems like a nice guy too...

“If I can create awareness of the natural world through this urban art form known as graffiti then I’m happy. I donate a percentage of money made from my bird paintings to the RSPB. It’s not all about darkness and anger; sometimes it’s nice to be nice, and besides, graffiti originates from caves as well as subways.”

Do you ever have one of those stories that's far too complex

to put into words? It's he said/she said, full of personalities

and conflicts?

I hire my friends; rather, if I need work done, and I know

someone in the neighborhood who does that kind of work,

why would I give my money to a total stranger?

But the thing is: I pay what the job is worth. If the person

wants to give me a break, that's cool. But I expect to

pay the amount I would pay someone else. It's only fair.

But here's the thing: if I am a skilled writer of press releases

who charges the standard rate of $80-$100/page, and someone

comes along to do that job for just $20/hour or $40/page, my

job is suddenly devalued and worth a lot less, even if that

person sucks. It works that way for photography and sewing

and plumbing, too.

So if I'm the one doing the job on the cheap, I devalue my own

job. I am the cause of it. It's totally wrong.

So I'm conflicted on about a bazillion levels. But I'll tell you

what would make the difference.

Being appreciated.

Sometimes all you need is a, Man, you fucking ROCK that

camera, girl!

Even if it's not true.

That little tiny black spot in the sky, to the right of the sun's rays? (See it here, bigger, if you're not sure what I mean.) That's a plane taking off.

I had to save this one for when I came home and could scan it. And when I could properly give it to all of you, to thank you for being so truly excellent and fun during my travel craziness and adventures in Nashville.

I have a very good feeling that 2009 is going to be full of adventures and full of awesomeness.

To many people, a step through the gates of Disneyland means leaving all your problems behind, and entering a whole new world. A world filled with magic, and the young of age. May Disneyland be an escape where everyone can be happy, and all will remember that feeling of being forever young. We hope that to all who step through these gates, find that special gift of being able to leave the world behind, and to be able to step into a whole new land. A land filled joy, happiness, imagination, and ocassionally, just a little bit, of magic. Happy Sunday everyone!

Lightbox works well for this photo

a year of mornings 226/365

And by that, I mean that last week turned out to be just as full as many this year have been. There was the sweet and silly and comforting visit from my mom, who was tireless in helping me do all kinds of things to get this place a bit more ready for the baby, and also in helping me eat chocolate cake and laugh at the goat's antics and dream up impossible names for the baby. There was also a funeral, which I won't say too much about here.

So the week was as it was, a glorious and goofy and tragic thing, and I never did take seven straight morning photos as I'd intended.

But I'm going to try again.

Got up and looked out the window and this glorious sunrise was painted across the sky--just for me. SOOC. Looks much better in a larger size.

Coffee is so good for you. Especially when it is made with no mess and no fuss first thing as you wake up in the morning.

It also lets you make coffee when you're in a right state.

See where this picture was taken. [?]

This has been the longest, sleepiest week in recent history. It began with heavy duty muscle relaxers and an ajumma walking on, stepping on and twisting me into a variety of shapes after a muscle spasm on a longstanding injury last week. I am pretty badass when it comes to physical pain, but this one broke me. I cried through the last half hour of treatment. But it worked.

By Thursday, I was standing up straight again and yoga-ing for the first time in a week.

In other news, I spent too much money, I cleaned, I ate greek food, these things began, I sneezed a lot, it rained and I decided to homage Hannah, though will openly admit her badassness is hard to replicate.

Another night home in time to actually make dinner and eat in the comfort of my apartment. As opposed to the driver's seat of my car. Which is comfy, but you can't really use a knife and fork while driving.

SOOC and into my belly.

/Spinach salad with mozzarella, Greek vinaigrette, and extra crispy bacon. Extra crispy is how I prefer my pig....pulled pork excluded. My eye doctor said I should eat more spinach. She didn't say I couldn't top it with bacon.

//I think I'm subconsciously auditioning to be DeadBetty's line cook when she gets her diner open. You should check out her stream - it's full of awesomeness, snark, and hilarity. And her food pics will make you drool. I'm drooling just thinking about them...and I'm stuffed like a turducken.

I know this may sound a bit cliche, but what I want for Christmas is to know that my kids are healthy, happy, safe, and growing up to be the best people possible.

The susquatch known as "Bigfoot" was spotted today in my doctor's waiting room in this portrayal of him cross-country skiing, a healthy and enjoyable activity that Bigfoot is known to engage in from time to time.

Day 8 / 30 Days of Gratitude

you wouldn't think any less of me if i dedicate a day to champagne, would ya?. I really really like and drink champagne ( ok, fine the kind i buy is really "sparkling wine"). Its the best happy buzz ever.

So, im sitting here, Jackson Browne playing in the background, sipping some sumatra coffee, feeling pretty grateful for that champagne I drank last night and all that I am blessed with.

Hope you are all having a grateful kinda day.
