Jenna : an Aids orphan from Uganda

This sketch is of a little girl from Uganda named Jenna. A couple of friends of mine are trying to arrange things to adopt her and her little brother, Stephen in February of this year. She is 7, he is 11 months. Both of their parents have died. She has been the mother figure for her little brother since their mom died. Imagine that! She's only 7 years old!
I can't express enough how excited I am for the opportunity that these kids have to come to America. The friends of mine who are trying to arrange this, Kimberly and Michael McGehee, are two of the best people I know. I always want to try to change the world. Kimberly and Michael are doing it for these kids.
In the original picture, she's holding her brother. I just drew this to see if it would be feasible to do a normal drawing of the two. I'm happy with how this turned out. It's not right on, but close enough that I think I can do it. This sketch gives the effect of her looking past the viewer. In the original, she's looking right at the camera. The light shading of the original doesn't show up very well on this scan. It still looks ok though.
