Changed the perspective and made it vintage.
"Deep sleeps the Winter,
Cold, wet and grey;
Surely all the world is dead;
Spring is far away.
Wait! the world shall waken;
It is not dead, for lo,
The Fair Maids of February
Stand in the snow!"
~Cicely Mary Barker ‘The Snowdrop Fairy’ (1895-1973) – English Illustrator and Author

for they are unfailing ingenious in that respect.”

It's snowing today in Amsterdam. It's has been by far the coldest Easter in 40 years!
From my balcony I can see this canal - the Westelijk Marktkanaal.
Flinke sneeuwbuien in Amsterdam vandaag. Het is met Pasen in ruim veertig jaar tijd niet zo koud geweest als dit jaar.
Dear friends,
What I can't say with so many words, I try to say with this flower.
Nearly 2 year Flickr and so much friends richer. Thank you so much for your friendship,
your loyalty, your solidarity, your love, your concerns about my health and your support during my stay here.
I am not leaving, although I had my doubts, because of the troubles with Flickr and the rules about groups. But nevertheless, I love it here, just because of YOU!
I feel so rich, I am happy with you, with my lovely family and of course my crazy little Alf.
Love, Addy

Hazel Male Catkins, the female flowers weren't showing but a week or so later they were starting to open.
This is the fourth time that these storks are brooding in this nest. They are so gorgeous to observe, very impressive to see how they take care of each other.... sweet togetherness.

"Spring makes its own statement, so loud and clear that the gardener seems to be only one of the instruments, not the composer."

I hope you get warm weather soon...wherever you are!
In the meantime... you might want to come a little closer here...
I'll be out enjoying the day, and will try to catch up with you later.
This is what my steadfast camera saw when I sat it on the road in Columbia City today, the first day of "it felt like spring!"

A Medium sized bird with mostly brown color. Both male and female have similar coloring, except for the male having a bluish crown and pink coloring on his chest.
Carolina Wren
Thryothorus ludovicianus
One of the best yard birds we have are the Carolina Wrens. Although they are around in the winter, they really come into their own in the spring. Their song wakes us each morning, insistent in their fitness to the next best thing for their mate. Their curious manner - even around people - endears us to them; their ability (and penchant) for finding the oddest housing draws us into their world.
We've had at least a pair here every year since we started feeding birds - and they've always been a joy to watch as they hop closer, equal parts curious and fearless as they approach and then even twitter at us about increasing the supply of mealworms to the feeders. They only live for about 6 years (max) so we have to be at least on the 2nd generation, but I still feel like they seem to know us - never flying more than a 'be safe' distance when we approach and actually coming in to inspect us once we've assumed a more sedentary position.
Most of all, that song and their increased activity, to me, mark a return to spring. We've put up several bird houses which we hope they'll check out and nest in, which would be a first for us (they've nested in our yard, but never in one of our provided houses). Maybe this will be the year!
